Sad to report the apparent death of Erwin Kremer, one of the two brothers from Cologne who founded the extremely successful Kremer Motorsport. They ran almost exclusively Porsches for a period of four decades and never seemed to be satisfied with the standard car produced by the factory but were always striving to go one step further.Perhaps their most successful product was the K3 variation of the 935 which won at Le Mans in 1979 and was built in large numbers either as complete cars or as upgrade kits. They also built cars which underachieved such as the 917 replica which ran in a few Sportscar races in the early '80's.

Sad news indeed. The Kremers bought some thing extra to the halcyon Group C days between 84-89 I thought. And the original Kremer CK5 from 1982-83 was a real beaut.

Sad news. Is there any more info on this? I've searched the net and come up dry.

If I can help you Fausto with a little translation, your link says:

"Unexpectedly this week died the founder of sportscars manufacturer from Cologne (Porsche Kremer Racing) Erwin Kremer after an attack in a rehab clinic. The end of a very special sportscar great."

Further in that thread people discuss that he wasn't that old (indeed), the definitive end of Kremer Racing and possibilities for a Kremer site to keep the Kremer story alive.

Too bad. Kremer Racing was a Porsche racing icon.

Just to avoid any misunderstandings: The "attack" was a stroke.
AFAIK Erwin Kremer was born in 1937, so he was just 69.

Manfred was his brother? And he is dead too - happened a few years ago?

Thank you ReWind, in Holland a stroke is often referred to as an "attack" (another english word in Dutch language!).

I believe the Kremer brothers had split up. They ran a shop in a smaller building, doing some smaller developments for street and racing cars. Manfred and Erwin parted company some years ago (Manfred left the company). Erwin had to pay him, which affected their relation.
