I see that somewhere between 20 - 25 F5000's are expected to be at the Sandown Historic Meeting in November of this year.

Does anybody here know who or what the 20-25 may comprise of ????

I'd be ......
Happy to see 2 appear....
Excited to see 10 appear......
Wrapped to see 15 appear.......
Out of my tree if there were more than 20....

I'm hoping I'll be out of my tree clap.gif clap.gif

Don't count on all finishing their events................
Vicuna
Where the hell are they coming from - they can't all be in Australia.

Australains owning F5000s tend to like looking at them rather than driving them.

The majority will be from NZ, in the past they have brought out about a dozen or so cars. Hopefully the Aussies will bring 8 or so, we just need Aaron Lewis with 2 of his cars, Graham Mein from QLD in the MR8, Graham Smith in the March, Andrew Robson in the Lola T332, Harborrow in his Lola, Mike Glynn with 2 of his cars (providing he still has both ;) and we suddenly have close to 25 cars....

I will not miss this, remember Sandown's outright lap record is held by Roger Williams in the McRae, perhaps one of the few tracks where a F5000 still holds an outright lap record......

I attended a meeting at Sandown a few years back to witness the ground shaking Trans-Tasman challenge of these monsters......wish I could make it down for this one (sadly, too close to Bathurst and a few others unfortunately rolleyes.gif ).

Can anyone tell me why (apart from Mr Lewis) we don't see more of these magnificent beasts on a regular basis ???? up.gif

One of the small number of entries from oz also has a Kiwi owner/driver roflmao.gif so does that make it better or worse on countback.

Just for an old F5000 fan - what two NZ cars will be missing this great event?

What's the date, so that I can put it into my calender?

Got to love the New Zealanders clap.gif

I remember going to an Oran Pk Tasman series race for F5000 in late 1974. Or was it early 1975? The ground shook, the earth moved. I'm sad to say I missed the Australian Grand Prix in 1979 at my home circuit of Wanneroo Park, where the ground shook, the earth moved ...

Once again, I can't make it.

But be there, and listen to the ground shake, the earth move. That low frequency thunder gets you right in the guts. Wonderful.

November 10 - 12th...........

John Goss to be the Patron of the meeting and drop the flag on the F5000 according to the Shannons web site.....

That's what is about Terry........... I remember the grandstand at Sandown used to vibrate when they let loose from the start line during the Tasman days..... the start line was directly in front of the grandstand back then..... you would loose site of them as they disappeared through Shell......and up to Peters.... You'd hear the thunder as they let lose up the back straight....hearing them before seeing the airboxes..... then the full cars as they powered towards the rise.....

Sat in the grandstands at Sandown for the first time a few years ago - R. Williams put in about 5 quick laps during practice - just incredible. The thunderous noise is .......... If you can, sit about 1/3 back from the front of the stand, worth the airfare from any where.

No the Katipo was based on a Matich chassis, the Elk on a Brabham
I could also have mentioned the Fortis (or was it Fortiss?)
Huw Jadvantich
Are both Stan Redmond's flexoplas cars going, the Lola and the McRae?
Patrick Fletcher
I have changed all circuit requirements at my workplace to make sure I can get to Sandown on all three days.
What is the best day for a TNF .... Victoria Bitter, tea, coffee or warm milk meeting?
