Holy mother of overtaking!!!!
I just watched the second race from Florianópolis
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqEPy7dbkKE

And what a cool celebration!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CN1P-7u2JoU

From P11 that girl demolished all the great Brazilians in a fearsome display of undeniable class and talent to WIN THE RACE.

She even made my wife say..."you mean a girl just beat all those F1 guys?"

I told ya she was the business!!!

Jp

Thanks for the links, Jon, quite amazing!

Well, I do hope Bernie takes notice...
Disgrace
What a super event. They should do more of those in other countries. What are Bias 2011 plans?

With the reintroduction of KERS the weight of the drivers in F1 is now more important.

Perhaps that opens opportunities for female drivers smile.gif.

I watched it live and could not believe my eyes. eek.gif

I also taped, and when I re-watched it was so funny, the comentators praising everyone, especially Alguersuari (who they thought would win) and no mention at all of Bia, but then, oops, here comes her, killing the field and making averyone look foolish with her incredible pace. biggrin.gif

She is the real deal.

What precision in her driving, what audacity in her moves.

At least Rubens was fighting for it, the rest of the men were a joke in this competition. This does not bode well for Massa and Senna.

Bia in F1 would be great, although the different forces in an F1 car would maybe mean that she cannot handle it in the top echelon. But she should be given the chance.

Unbelievable performance, I just watched it the third time.

Too strong words as Alguersuari has been there for the first time and was leading 14 out of the 28 laps race... He had a brake issues after 20th lap losing lead to Rubens and then some others, so describing him as a joke seems weird to me...

Yes, Alguersuari was fine, and showed what he is made of. Will he succeed Webber at RBR in 2012?

Nonetheless, one girl blew the gents away, and then some!

The minimum weight of the car has been increased to compensate for KERS. Teams that do not run KERS will still have to carry the equivalent weight in ballast.

However, there are teams who asked their drivers to lose weight. If I'm not mistaken it is Ferrari who asked Alonso sto lose 8 kg's.

Yes, according to the rules I found in their website there's a minimum weight for kart+driver and if needed they add ballast. And both the engine and the mechanics are distributed by drawing lots.

That's exactly the advantage the teams look for. You take 8KG from where the driver's hip is and place them wherever you wish.

But there's still a big difference from driving a go kart to driving a F1 car

You guys have her in an F1 car already... drunk.gif stoned.gif

Let's just hope Ribeiro can close a deal on the few remaining seats in IndyCar.
Wouldn't mind if DeFerran ran her as a #2 with Tony.

I for one would love to see a female driver in F1 asap. Would shake the old boys up a bit and evolve the sport better than a move to V8s

anyone else out there share this view? up.gif

There have been female F1 drivers.

Indeed, there were even female F1 race winners, albeit not in a World Championship points scoring race...

Ah to hell with it: Just give her Di Restas seat at Force India
I know he won the F3 Euroseries & The F3 Masters
And that in 4 years in the DTM he's finished 5th in an old car and 1st, 2nd & 3rd in a factory car (not forgetting his British Junior (running almost 10kgs over weight at a cost of around 0.3/s a lap)and Cadet karting titles) but this girl had a good result in 1 kart race!!!

SIGN HER UP VIJAY! roflmao.gif
