One of the people seen with the Queen was the lady Mayor of San Diego. Shortly thereafter her husband was convicted of some stock fraud and went to prison.

Another person in the photos, Superior Court Judge at the time, became current Mayor, and is under fire for failure to anticipate and properly control resources in the recent conflagrations that burned 1200 homes and killed a dozen people.

Another Council member appearing in the photos resigned when his generous nature and debauchery, paid by a City credit card, came to light.

Didn't a UK toy company called "Mint and Boxed" get some award from Her Majesty for services to the Crown......?
And where is John Z these days since we're on the subject?

Cheers,

What I meant to say was that she never ever seems to want to just pop in to say hello, always only if invited to open an Opera House or something.....In '54 I bet she was told to come out here after her coronation just to show the Antipodeans what a real Queen looked like.....and she was quite regal I must admit!

Don't want to appear to be the resident TNF monarchist, but HM never goes anywhere just to say hello. Even in the UK she only appears if invited to open a new hospital wing or launch a ship etc

I think the fascinating path this thread has taken proves what can happen when a group of reasonably bright folks, possessing a wealth of arcane knowledge, warms to a subject!

When the Lotus team came to Milwaukee in 1963, they used the facilities of the factory USAC stock care team; Zecol Lubaid. My brother and I would bicycle over every day and hang out, getting autographs from Chapman, Clark, Gurney.....

As you can see, I've introduced a little 'low life' to try and change that!

Sorry, I was taking a bit of a flyer on this one. Did the Queen ever meet Bukasa (Sp?) who was renowned for inviting his political oponents around for dinner?

I don't know about Emperor Bokassa, but the late, unlamented Emperor Iddi Amin Dadda certainly had his competitors for royal supremacy on the menu.

Roy Billington is - I believe in New Zealand now. Jack has njust been there and I believe was going to see him. He makes the point very plainly that given his time over again he'd love to go racing again with his old team personnel from 1966-68ish....

I didn't notice John, Paul, George or Ringo anywhere around at the time. This was 1963, before they became big and came to the U.S. I do recall my brother and I charging at Clark and Chapman as they got out of car and startling both of them.

Thanks to all you Brits who straightened me out on "minions" Still wish I'd kept the coveralls. . .

Going further off-topic still, I liked the white ones favoured by the early B.R.M. mechanics (and those at Vanwall, worn of course with collar and tie and copious quantities of "Brylcreem".
