For Bjørn and Clarko, about the Lotus transporter on post 685 : the transporter was originally as pictured on this post, with two headlights and a small front grill.
The transporter had then a crash against the B.R.M. truck coming out of Silverstone (must have been in 1963 but not sure), and its facia was rebuilt with four headlights and a larger front grill. The truck was also using two additional headlights bolted underneath its front bumper.

Maranello UK (Hoare) had a Thames Trader boxed/build over the cabin roof/cabin more or less integrated transporter at the beginning in 1961. They in 1964 added another Trader also boxed /over the cabin roof but NOT integrated cabin. They were both at LM in 1966 (?). What colours were they ??????????????????
Also Ecosse had 2 AEC buses(converted) before the famous Commer(1959), these buses were I believe different coloured , any knowledge of the colours????????????????????????????

The picture came with the Press Release.
A date of 1964 is mentioned in the Press Release itself.
I have nothing else.

I seem to recall Thames Traders running on a B registration so 64 would be OK. IIRC the D Series came out in 65 with C reg.

...found this article in the german Sport-Auto August 76:
on the Monaco-photo I think: Ensign, Ligier (or Penske?), (?) the red Ford, Wolf with Walter Wolfs Countach, Fittipaldi with Emmos great motorhome, Lotus, March-Beta, Tyrrell, Hesketh (?), McLaren and Ferrari.
Hope you can identify.

I echo Bjorn's thanks for a superb photo.
Perhaps the Bedford is an RL type, with an enclosed box body built on( non-tiltcab) Those old RLs were plentiful in those days, being ex Military in various guises, and were sold off cheaply. They are the same as the legendary Green Goddess Fire Appliances.
BTW, whilst I have not checked it yet, I think the Maranello Ford is the one which appears in DCN's book The Colonel's Ferraris, a highly recommended tome, showing it at Crystal Palace IIRC.
Will check.

Thanks legendmartini ,again some I hadnt seen!
Roger , the Bedford I was thinking of started in 51 as the S model If I remember right. Will wait for your check! Talking of X-mas , the 2 Maranellos in colour is even more like it!
Gary C , you wouldnt remember other transport vehicles from Maranello? Vans? Do you remember all as being red? How about that Bedford(?) ? Also red as on that photo?

I have some info to the Jag D 3CPF in 699 :
1954 works car from a batch of 6 cars. First XKC 406 then XKD 406,colour BRG, E2003-9/RRW21,loaned to Briggs Cunningham in 55,did 164 mph , and won Sebring . Back to UK Duncan Hamilton purchased it for Abecassis and Head, 5th at Dailey Expr.Silverstone , 6th in SwedenGP. Sold in 57 to J.Forbes-Clark who did sprints and hillclimbs with it, various owners ,in 1970 to Peter Skidmore , this year Duncan Hamilton tried it outfor old sakes , 1972 Sir Nicholas Williamson for hillclimbs , 1980 John Beasleylater Martin Hilton , Alan LawsoncwJohnin 1970 to John Beasley .But from 58(?) to 69 ? So , that doesnt help to whom owned it and perhaps drove it around in that bus!

what a wonderful thread! big info, super pics, thks to all!
legendmartini: guess the kit is an older Eidai Grip in 1:32, not sure if just "fiction" or if there ever was a "real thing" in the US... and as far as I remember, Eidai did also a Tyrrel-Transporter in 1:32 in the 80's

This is the way Ebb Rose of Houston,Texas, brought his cars to the races. Maserati 300S, AC Bristol, Corvette SR2. This is from 1958 and the event was held at Hammond, Louisiana.

Alan: Glad you are enjoying the picture. I sure enjoy the ones you post. Imagine having the pull that Chevrolet would allow you to run one of their prototype cars. I believe Ebb Rose was in the trucking business among other things. He also raced at Indy and was very good friends with his fellow Texan AJ Foyt. Notice his Caddy pulling his Maserati 300S.

Some oldies : Mercedes "silver arrows" and old trucks.
Cars are probably 1938 W154 and 1939 W154/M163. I don't know where, but the second photo could be at the Nurburgring.
Anything different with the F1 paddocks today ?

Splendid Jerry! AND Hubert! Who was Bellevue XXXXX Racing?
Guess that could be Bellvue Garage of Wandsworth, South London - the Evans family who were local estate agents and enjoyed their motor sport, with Wilkie Wilkinson standing guard over their operation.

My GP was at Wellesley Road. Know it well - parked there the other week and got the tube at Gunnersbury.
But where on earth would Maranello Concessionaires have been exactly?
I'm intrigued. To the best of my knowledge it's always been residential, except maybe where the BSI building car park is? (formerly the IBM Chiswick building of course).
Does anybody know?

I have seen a photo of the Maranello Conc. Ford unloading an F1 car for the 65 racing car show, but cannot find the book source now, perhaps Bjorn can help as I sent him the details. The caption indicated that the truck was operated for Colonel Hoare by a local haulage contractor, so the Wellesley Road bit may well refer to them.

Maranellos had a workshop there at the time which was known as 'The Hole in the Wall' so might not have been very obvious.

A long time ago someone went mad deleting their posts...
When they deleted the first post in a thread, it wiped that whole thread. So the rules were changed and it's no longer possible to delete your post if it's the first in a thread. But you can PM Twinny and ask him to move the post and merge the thread with another.

Thanks to John Ellacott, I was able to snap this pic of one of his pics taken back in the early sixties, probably 1962... the Lotus 19 came to rest between the Cutting and Reid Park:
Bruce Richardson is in the driver's seat, Matich is putting the jockey wheel into the back of the van. They've obviously just finished loading the car into the trailer.
