heres a couple more.......
it took 48 hours to get it from picture one to picture three......
and about a month to recover!
half its problem was that kids had smashed a couple of the side windows, the rear window and a couple of the skylights, so the rain had poured in and rotted all the back out, the last ten feet of the body was terrible.
beyond economic restoration unfortunatley..

Twinny could do much better, of course

...everybody loves a critic - did you happen to notice the work done on the light blemishes? I've retouched it to include more blue - in the past, some people were critical of too much reduction of patina. That's why it appeared as it did previously. Hope you like the improvement.

Well done Richard. I have deleted my effort. I wonder if Twinny could completely resurrect the Gulf blue?
Bjorn has aked me to post this one from LeMans.
Buona fortuna, David
DB,
I didn't mean for you to remove your image - your retouching effort was fine!
With enough time, I can resurrect the color... TW is also quite adept at the PhotoShop techniques. You can both have another go if you wish.
In LE MANS movie with Mc Queen there is a 5 seconds view of this gulf transporter ,after the crash of his 917 with a 911 ,Delaney is going back to his caravan and stands a few seconds besides the truck.

Hi Bjorn:
I have a PM Lotus 15 :i bought it in a Swiss Modelcar shop (I can´t remember) but they only had 1 example
Bjorn Kjer
Nov 9 2006, 10:50
sorry clarco , I have just observed that I meant the Lotus XI(11)streamliner) NOT a 15! CC took it to Monza on a small open trailer behind his "old" Ford Anglia!.
clarko1230
Nov 9 2006, 11:23
Do you refer to this?
Bjorn Kjer
Nov 9 2006, 13:26
clarco : Nope! CC/Lotus took the "11" streamliner on an open 2 wheel trailer to Monza for some record runs and that trailer was towed behind a Ford Anglia(the square type also named Popular in GB) and built up till 61 .
However its a beautiful picture of the Thames!

I so hoped some of my french collegues could solve this , and even in the french language I see no solution . Still guys , you helped me on my way , because without help (sounds crazy) I had to put on my glasses and look closer on the ENB transporter and now I can see head and tail!!!!!!!!!
And by the way , the Ferrari should be 275LM because it was a 3,3 litre!
I still hope for more info , especially the "REN" and "(automobi)LES/DB transporters???????
Kind regards , Bjørn

Hello David ,another great ,never seen the "famous" Castrol bus so clear and big , allways part pics in the background. I believe this is an Austin , of course with special buildup (coach).
I did make a thread "Supply and sponsor vehicles" for this kind of transporters, but later found out that this is also a transporter. As well as a van is! If it wouldnt belong here the thread name should be different. So I havent tried to keep that of mine "alive". But there are some interesting pics on that thread too. That should answer your q! Motorracing is my main interest, but in that transporters is again my main interest. I am collecting pics and infos for trying to build some dioramas with the time correct paddocks and my own racing car models!

Hi "searchers" , above right on the screen is "search BB" push and you can search Martini Racing or Gerard Larrousse or anything else. If you on the thread perhaps not find the pics you are looking for , read it anyway .,they are usually interesting and full of infos and tips too.

Nov 11 2006, 10:46

Hello Alan ,I just happen to know that he is! Thank you. The transporter collecting is less than 1% of all motor racing , but for MCs its even less than a tenth of that. Very little is seen from the paddocks on MC , in the older days ,and now they have big trailers like the F1. Your particular pic is from when these machines were quite succesfull if I remember right.? To try to "know" i keep myself a bit before 1970, so I have to ask or look up somewhere to remember. Great picture, and very nice to recall the Norton name that late! Thanks again Alan. Regards Bjørn

The Trojan works were in Purley Way Croyden.
They imported Lambrettas and Suzuki motor Bikes. There was a Heron petrol station at the front.
I believe the whole site has been redeveloped.

Faboulos shot , great angle , look at the people around, where do do you see that today ? Its the 5 year old Fiat 682 "Bartoletti" built-up car that still excists today. Its not polish they spend their money on in those days, look at the roof! Thanks David , but what does RHD stand for ?
CJE : Nice ad , I also "go" for CanAm transporters, seldom to see this kind , most went for small open trailers. This then must be the Oscar Kovaleski truck with the Mclaren onboard ? I remember AW, used to buy some small transfer for models at that time. Thanks from me!

I always understood that Italian trucks used to be built with RHD because the driver would then be on the outside of the winding mountain roads, since they drive on the "wrong" side for LHD, and would thus have a better chance of seeing the edge and placing the truck on the road better.
This was especially important in the days of yon and yore when, due to the prescriptive axle weights in force, many of the bigger trucks were 4 axled/"8 wheel" rigids pulling a variety of axle combinations on their trailer, so they were something of a handful. I well recall seeing them edge their way slowly up long mountain roads, unless, as dear Jenks used to say, they were a victorious Ferrari team going home, in which case they seemed to assume extra power and speed and be driven with extra brio.

Comments/answers , Post 189/90/91 : This car was never a Ferrari team transporter, I am nearly ready with a small story on this one. Post 63 : Was sold for cattle transport right after the Ferrari takeover and not seen in racing circles again. Post 387 : Essex Team/John Ogier coach.Post 378 :
Appears to have NOT been repainted, meaning stayed BRM green. Post 336 : A picture of the Serenissima can be seen on the Ferrarichat. Post 333 :The car is an Team Rosebud car, they entered the 2 litre class. Teh Bartoletti/Fiat is Tralochi Baricchi from Italy.
May I politely remind you of my Posts 620(605) I went through the entry list but could not "guess" anything ! Can any of you?

Found this pic in a pile of old photos for sale at a museum recently, a note on the back says Peter & Len, Crystal Palace, 1954. Was this a bike-only event? I'd have thought the large transporters in the background were for cars rather than bike or sidecar combinations. Nice signwriting on the nearest lorry.
