Twinny,
Not sure if you have posted the red March transporter because you thought it was the Theodore one - sorry but it wasnt. The March one is a Ford and live and well in the States with Bill Allen - there is another picture of it under the 'personal photos from the paddock thread' at post # 115.

A couple more transporters in the background of pics I took at the 1975 British GP; the top one in a happier state than pictured a few posts above!
Plus the only pic I think I ever took which shows Jo Gartner's Racing Team Albatross converted coach, taken at the Mantorp Park F2 meeting in 1981.
The red-overalled mechanic on the left is, I'm pretty sure, Ian Harrison - currently proprietor of the Triple 8 BTCC team, and formerly TM at Williams. Top bloke; for 1982 I think he went to Maurer followed by a spell at Arrows. The other chap became the tyre man at ATS the following year (again, IIRC) - a lovely bloke who's name I cannot remember! The young lady was my then-girlfriend Philippa.

I didn't look too closely did I! You're right Marc - it's not the eBay one.
Bjorn is correct too; by the looks of things it's the one pictured earlier.
The Hesketh transporters in 444 and 461 look as though they could be the same vehicle - certainly not the same as the 'e-bay' vehicle in 456.

Hallo, I´m a newbie from Germany and very interested in the themes Porsche and transporters. But I found some interesting pictures of two of the "Ferrari´s" at:
http://www.silmabus.it/restauri.htm. (sorry, I think direct linking isn´t possible, so please try
http://www.silmabus.it and go to "Allestimenti" and then "restauri dépoca) The company is located in Modena, so I think it´s clear for what company they did the restaurations. Take a look at their actual projects. There is another nice picture of a Maserati-transporter at
http://www.silmabus.it/pop/21.jpg.
Another beautiful transporter is in restuaration at the german team Alfina-Bovensiepen (not Alpina!)
http://www.alfina-bovensiepen.de - in the menue Fahrerlager (in the part "historischer Motorsport") you´ll find some interesting pictures of the former Team Kannacher transporter. Kannacher was a racing team based in Krefeld (near Düsseldorf) from the late 60ies till the 90ies. They raced Porsche (everything from 911 to 935), group-c (URD), Porsche 944 turbo in the Turbo-Cup, BMW M 1 and Opel-Lotus Cup (formula). This transporter was built especially by Kässbohrer for a moving-company in Krefeld. But they got problems with the loading-capacity of this Setra (which has no frame like a normal truck) and sold it to Kannacher. After Kannacher retired from racing (and business) it rested for one or two years and was then used as a transporter for flowers. Alfina restores this beauty and it will be seen in the historical touringcar-scene.
Photos of the Porsche-Transporter in it´s actual condition you can find also at
http://www.pelicanparts.com/swapmeet_pics/...ML/Page-615.htm
and the following too. But be very careful with all the stuff there: your day could be done.
Regards from Germany, Christian

I have a pic of the UOP Shadow transporter, taken in the Anderstorp paddock in 1973. Lots of other pics, too, which may be of interest. But I must get a scanner and learn the appropriate technique...please bear with me.

Bjorn, on page 201 of Motor Racing; Reflections of a Lost Era; Anthony Carter; Veloce, there is another shot of the Ferraris and the same truck. The narrative goes, " Ferrari used to have its cars flown over for races in England, SS&Co traditionally transporting the cars and equipment to and from Heathrow........ ..... I recall the Ferraris being gently eased down wooden planks, chocks placed beneath the wheels to raise the cars over the ledge of the flat deck."
It is a super book, written with feeling, and with glorious period phots.

hi, ive been following this thread with interest for a while, but have only just got round to signing up.
i own a 1967 bedford Vam coach that was converted to be a race car transporter back in the early 1980's. its had a hard life and was in very poor shape when i bought it last year. ive spent loads of time and effort doing a lot of work on it, as im hoping to use it to transport my race mini - it should be in a useable condition for the start of next years season.
it was orginally converted for a guy called dave forster who built and raced maguire type minis - i think he last raced in the mid 90's.
when he owned the transporter it was blue and white with 'dave forster racing' in foot high white letters down the side, we found this when we stripped the many coats of house paint that it has received since!
does anybody have any photos of this transporter when it was in its prime? - i know its not exactley f1 or bespoke, but its a great looking vehicle (or will be when its done), also does anybody know the whereabouts of 'dave forster' as nobody knows anything about him.
cheers in advance
rich

In 1965 Reims(12 hours) F3 race John Willment entered 3 cars. Their transporter was white with red stripes and their name in white in the red. Does anyone know of this one????????
PS It is NOT the Thames Trader that has been to see in MS.
This is going to be Nostalgia one day!

Hi every one , I am back with a mystery , in the Book : GRAND PRIX DATA BOOK (2006) by Hayhoe and Holland ,the first picture sektion is a colour picture of Carlo Chiti and Tony Brooks in the garages for the Italian GP 1959. Behind Brooks you see nothing because he is "hiding" the car , and behind Chiti you see a brand new Bianchi transporterin dark red with no names on(This was in 1960 used by Camoradi at Nurburgring and Le Mans. The question ? What is the car behind Brooks ???? If you can guess that , I can guess who had the transporter!! (PS . Was there any supporting races perhaps?)
