If I am right Phigr 7 is post number 1000 and Bradbury West is reply number 1000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a Fiat 645 wich is a smaller version of 643 wich came from the 642/682 wich was the famous Ferrari (3 + 1) and Maserati (1 + 0) as chassis with Bartoletti build up . Ferrari later themselves had a pure Fiat 643 and propably also a 3 axle version. The colours are from Trasporti Barrichi of Modena who in the years 58 plus had many racecar transports especially for ferrari to LM but also UK. The also used box and open/canvas types. Barrichi in the 60es took over one of Ferraris 642 s and painted it in the same colours as the pic you point to.

Ref: Porsche Transporters,
Since the discussion regarding 2 or 3 Porsche Transporters has gotten into some pretty strong difference of opinions, I will make only one more comment than pack up my bag of tricks and move elsewhere. Please reread my post number 985 with special concern for the letter from Mr Flegl. The letter specifically discusses both S-C-9003 and S-YZ-32 at the same time. They both existed on 20.10.1970. One couldn't have been made from the other. I have a copy of the letter in hand. Unfortunately, I can not print it here. I made a verbal promise to my source for all of the 917 research materials that I would use the information only for historical research and that I would not copy or publish any of the documents. I am bound by that agreement. It's been fun. See ya.

Hi olddude2 ,Iam a bit

,I dont think you should leave like that, you have your opinions and your knowledge, you have provided what you know and thanks for that! I am sure that its appreciated,
a difference of opinion is allowed here , as long as its not a "fight" ! Anyone can believe they are right if or untill they are otherwise convinced .! In this case I believe its unsolved untill an official letter can state wether its 2 or 3 and then the puzzling can continue or finish! Enjoy!

One of the 8-litre Bentley specials, I think the Pacey Hassan, was carried around postwar on the back of a transporter made from a Bentley Mark 6 with an extended chassis. The BDC has a photo of the outfit somewhere in its files.

Have alook on the new : Racing models in HO (1:87) ,thread!
I have the BUB auto union and a couple of excellent Busch 1934 Auto Union racer. If you cannot afford the bigger scales , go small , you can even build them yourself (? ). Remember Mike Sells excellent buildin plans!
Schuco made a reasonable Maserati(and Ferrari) Fiat Bartoletti 642 , BUB also has the MB fastest transporter ever , Brekina has a bifg furnituretruck compatible with many team trucks as well as racers plus the Porsche 1957 MAN, wich High Tech also has in super version. But I think talking models here belongs to other threads.
Also have alook at Personal photos from the paddock , Support and sponsor vehicles and Le Mans 1957- 1965 for more transporters etc. or ask !

If your interest in historic transporters extends to owning them, you may like to know that at Bonhams' sale at the Goodwood festival of Speed 22/6/07, they are offering A 1957 Leyland Royal Tiger two-car Vanwall transporter. One owner since 1982 when he bought it from the factory.

Charles , I was born with petrol in my blood , later it turned to diesel ,I ate a lot of corn flakes as a kid, there were racing cars on the back of the boxes to cut out and glue together.
etc. models models models and a collection of books etc and 25.000 pictures of trucs collected over 25 years wich I sold to get even with the bank , and now combining my passions motorsport and trucks into transporters ! When I get a picture , I write a samll team history to put ahead in my files.Over the past year it has grown and grown , and I do my research as well as getting a lot of infos from nice people on the TNF ! Ilooked at your profile and seeing , IT consultant, had a laugh. When the day turns up and I know about URL , there is something newer a lot of other know how to use!
Chuck , nice tip on e-bay , the car also says "Winston" , but of course it could have been from one of the lesser NASCAR series.
Roger , yes many great pics and fun DSJ with his paper hat .Could someone do that today ?
Also all, I have earlier promised to come back with infos etc., I think I do it , there are not that many questions from you, but something is in the air I can tell you .

Bjørn, OT, a URL (Universal Resource Locator) is a web address - if you use Microsoft's Internet Explorer to view web pages you will probably find that you have a toolbar at the top of the screen with Address on one side and a Go button on the right. In your post 999 on this thread you put in an address beginning with www and it was converted to a URL so that we can click on it to go to the webpage.
Here's the URL of a nice
Lotus Transporter from the 1950s. Lotus fanatics may note the hole in the Motor Racing advertisement and remember a story about how it was made. The chap in the picture is Wally Canty, a local resident, and the photo comes courtesy of his nephew John Canty.
Have a look at this advertisement, the owner states that it was once an F1 transporter in 1969.

I contacted the owner, who has no further documentation or idea from which team it was.

Quick update on the Dodge rebuild, body panels (remains of, to be preserved) came off today, the engine and box were removed on Tuesday. I think the roof is next, followed by the axles coming off - all a bit scary
Plan is to diarise the rebuild as the resto place get on with it, and put it on the site

good effort! i wish i had the luxuary of a huge dry 'shed' to keep 'big william' in, never mind trench foot, ive got 'trench back' from being laid in the mud under mine!!!
im thinking of selling mine to some african witch doctor - no matter how hot, sunny and blue sky there is, it will always start to rain if i try and do any paintwork! - when i masked it of (3 hours!)and painted the roof - it started to rain (once id mixed all the paint and got at least 3/4 of the way done) - the spooky thing was there wasnt even a cloud in the damm sky! - its a drought ending rain maker - not a race car transporter!
looking forwards to the next instalment, through from my experience, they go back together far slower than they come to bits!

motorsport.com today posted photos of many of the current F1 transporters and motorhomes taken in the paddock at Barcelona. While impressive and opulent (three stories high for Ferrari!) they do lack the charm and individuality of the classic F1 transporters. But photos of racing transporters are photos of racing transporters! Enjoy!
I am thrilled to find this forum with so many fellow transporter enthusiasts, and photos and links.
Best,

Hubert Baradat
May 15 2007, 13:51
Chris Kerrison bought the all-winning Moss 250 GT SWB 1961. After a crash, Drogo made the body car we know today. I have many photos of it ... but nothing with the trailer.
bradbury west
May 15 2007, 14:07
The 250 was the ex Moss Rob Walker 61 TT winner IIRC, chassis 2735. Rebodied by Drogo and nembo it was lowered, lightened, and fitted with 6x38DCN (he gets everywhere) carbs. kerrison raced it through 63 and 64 then it was wrecked in Ireland and later rebodied as Moss car.
Kerrison was/is an oyster farmer with oyster beds on the estuary of the river Crouch, IIRC, on the Essex coast. The last I read he was having problems with the proposed plans for the new marina on the estuary which woul cause disruption to the beds with the dredging etc. I did read what he started racing with but have forgotten.

Hello!
Can someone please tell me if there was an Ecurie Ecosse - Jaguar transporter based on a Fiat Bartoletti (like the ones used by Ferrari)?
I collect model cars (mainly Jaguars) and I recall having seen, on an auction site, a model, similar to the Fiat transporters made by Old Cars, but painted in black and sporting Ecurie Ecosse and Jaguar logos (I think it was a special edition produced for a Jaguar related Club or something).
Any info on that?
Thank You and congratulations for this wondeful forum and thread!
Cheers
Graham Gauld
May 27 2007, 05:32
For the record Ecurie Ecosse never had any transporters other than the converted buses they started with and the one-off transporter based on a Commer chassis that was built by the Walter Alexander company in Falkirk, Scotland, to a design by their design managerSelby Howgate. Selby was a larger than life character who was a Bentley enthusiast and indeed was killed in a road accident driving his Bentley. Selby took ages to design the transporter and had it half built on two occasions before changing his mind and scrapping his work. His signature design on the transporter was the tail section. In my book " Ecurie Ecosse" Ian Johnston, who worked with Selby explained what happened. " One day Selby asked me into his office and he had his drawing pad in front of him. He said, simply,'What's the most streamlined thing in nature?' and I answered, a fish, and from that he began to adapt it which is why the upswing at the rear remained in his design for it represented the tail fin of a fish."
When they were finished with it the transporter was sold to Neil Corner and today it is owned by Ecurie Ecosse collector Dick Skipworth.
