Does anyone know what happened to the 4 Alfa Romeo 412's that were supposed to have been built in 1939. Has anyone survived?

I understand this car was built from a 8C 2900 chassis that was fitted with an engine from the 12C-37 GP car, but running without supercharger. Does anyone have any more info on how these engine ran in this shape? Were they a successful design?

The bodywork on the cars on the very few pictures I've seen strongly resembles the 8C 2900A's that ran in the Mille Miglia. In my opinion absolutely stunning!!



I would imagine this was quite a sports car in its days, and by all means, would still be today! Would perhaps be a bit tempting to fit a s/c though..

I think there may be one of these cars in the French National Motor Museum/Schlumpf Collection?

One of the cars ran in the 1950 and 1951 Mille Miglia. The 1951 car was rebodied by Vignale, and disappeared about 45 years ago. There are rumors that the car exists in Spain. Some books say there were only 2 Tipo 412s.

Th car in the Schlumpf collection at Mulhouse is ex Willy Daetwiller who raced it at the end of the forties and beginning of the fifties in swiss sports cars, hillclimbs, and formula libre events.
