Has anyone got a close-up photograph of the "Lotus Ford" lettering on the nose of a Lotus 49 (original green-and-yellow version; not the blocky Gold Leaf version)?

I'd like to reproduce it for my Elise... and yes, it is Ford-powered!

But the Lotus 49 was never Ford powered...

Perhaps you're making a subtle point that the Ford-Cosworth DFV is based on a Ford design, but is built entirely by Cosworth?

Nevertheless it was always badged "Lotus Ford"... and that's what I'm hoping to emulate.

Well if we're splitting hairs, I don't think I made any claims about the Lotus 49's power source... only its livery lol.gif

If i remember correctly, part of the deal was that the DFV was branded as a Ford engine. It certainly said "Ford" on the cam covers - apart from when Williams used "Cosworth" badged covers from a DFX, which confusingly was a Cosworth to placate their Saudi sponsors - at least until they were told to use the correct ones.

The only picture of a 49 I can find has the Lotus badge with the word Lotus in an italic script under it and the word Ford in standard Ford copperplate below that. I'm afraid i can't post scans.

And FoMoCo would complain if press reports referred to a Lotus-Cosworth, rather than a Lotus-Ford smile.gif
