Odered/signed up for 2 PSL's. Could turn out to be a bad investment if things don't go well. Here's to being optimistic! up.gif

The Personal Seat Licenses don't make much sense if you are only attending F1 and live farther than a days drive away.
It only makes sense for locals.
I've only seen it in NASCAR where there is mostly a local crowd.
It does make sense for other stadium sporting events.
Most on this BB and international fans would pass and wait for the ticket sales.
Hotels are already stupid price. We are looking at San Marcos for reasonable rates.

I'm a local and I don't think it makes sense even for us, esp at those prices.

A $1000-$5000 PSL for just F1 and Aussie V8s, when we don't even know how long the USGP has been secured? No way.

Well he is due to play at Clermont Ferrand on 28 June. Unfortunately he will be 40 years late for the French Grand Prix!

I agree.
Paying a $5000 premium for 30 events (2 events x 15 years) adds about a third to the ticket price.
Why would anybody do that?

I understand and agree to a point. But MotoGP is coming and I'm sure others will come as well. I've been saving up for it. Plus I can always sell to get all or part of my money back.

That's assuming F1 & Aussie V8s for 15 years, right? Hopefully that will happen, but as it stands now the V8s contract is only for 5 years, and we don't even know how long F1 has been secured since signing the new contract. 1, 2, 5 years? Who knows?

and all classes of racing, from motor power to human power, and be the U.S. home to both the
Formula 1 Grand Prix and V8 Supercar World Championships.

John Flood: Circuit of The Americas construction months behind schedule...

John also commented on the article on our Facebook page "Friends of Formula 1 Austin Texas":

QUOTE
All projects run behind that have this scope and magnitude. I will be doing a projection later this week that realigns the schedule with the actual progress and projects the outcomes. I think the schedule can be met, but that depends on factors that are beyond the control of the constructors...Weather, supply of prefabricated materials, unknown issues, etc. are my concerns. They have consumed all of their "float" or "slack" time. Any delays will threaten the completion. But, I am optimistic and they have a very good team on the project.

The United States Grand Prix

Tilke’s latest creation, the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, will host its first Grand Prix in November. On paper, there’s much to anticipate about this new venue, with a Silverstone-inspired opening sequence of fast corners and ample elevation change.

And F1′s return to the States is certainly something to be celebrated. F1′s popularity in America may never rival that of NASCAR or the National Football League. But being a minority sport which in a country of over 300 million people is hardly a bad thing.

And it’s clear from the feedback I’ve read on F1 Fanatic the sport has many dedicated and passionate followers in the USA.

In other news, Circuit of The Americas says they'll re-apply for METF funding:

Be sure to read the long interview with Geoff Moore of COTA.

Because MotoGP already has races in the USA (Laguna Seca and Indy), so it wouldn't be "the home", unlike the other two.

No conspiracy ;)

Since the race is now less than 1 year away, they can apply for the funding and will likely receive some. We do not know for certain how much that will be. They also will not be reimbursed until after the race has been run and an economic impact analysis has been conducted.

MotoGP was conspicuously absent because COTA currently does not hold the rights to run MotoGP at their circuit, home or not.

Actually, the large wall you see there is the rear wall of the Media Center. The wall facing the main straight will be almost all glass.

That's potentially blockbuster news, but most people seem uninterested. Weird, imho.
Ross Stonefeld
It's not really though. If he's showing around other promoters that might be interesting, but him operating as a sponsorship broker only interests Bernie. He get the money for the Whoever United States Grand Prix and Tavo gets a % of the 6-7mil fee.

Not sure about this Ross.
SAP paid the Speedway 3 mil/yr for naming rights and promo.
Trackside ad revenue went to Bernie.
I suspect Tavo is working for Bernie since his ouster as organizer.
Ross Stonefeld
Indy may have got 3mil a year as a split, some tracks have more bargaining power than others.

For those of you worried that the Media Center wouldn't have windows, here's a shot of it from this morning:

King Six
So they don't have windows? Who's designing this shit, oh wait...it's Tilke, right. It's abit poor that now Delhi and Austin have rather poor facilities for the commentators. Come on, they're supposed to be state of the art F1 circuits that cost a fortune to build and an even bigger one to host an F1 race, the people are supposed to have some serious money.

Can you see the windows? The whole wall on the first floor facing the track is windows.

Aren't windows usually transparent? Not solid blue like those?
Ross Stonefeld
He will have meant American first floor. Which actually doesnt' make sense because that would be the garages. Unless the media center is going to be in a building behind the pits where the trucks would normally park but aren't because it's a fly away race.

I think the media center is the building in the front left, right above the unidentifiable Petronas sponsored car which somehow managed to get its airbox caught in the guardrail.

Yes. That's correct...and BRG, the windows don't look like transparent glass yet because there is no glass in them. There are just empty holes where the windows will be. I thought it was obvious.

As for the garages being on the first floor, they are, and the media building is next door, not in the pit/paddock building (as you can see in the rendering).
Watkins74
I would have thought the media center would have windows on the second level where they could actually see something.

However, since I am not part of the media I will sleep just fine tonight. smoking.gif

The only one is KLBJ-AM, where Jeff Ward doesn't really talk about the buildup, but rather lambastes the whole project based on its planned receipt of METF funding. He's an idiot, but he's loud and angry, so he has a following.

The sports stations are Texas Football, the NFL, and more Texas Football all day. I've talked to them about it a bit but they really seem to have no clue. However, I think once they start to get wind of the amount and nature of F1 intrigue and shenanigans, they'll be ready to get into it.
