But it is not supposed to be more than a US grand prix. It is not supposed to feel like everyone's grand prix. It should be the US grand prix and feel like a US grand prix. Yes, everyone is welcome and everyone is invited, but the purpose it to make it uniquely yours. Don't make it like the "Tilke Track" version of a US grand prix where it doesn't really metter where it is.
Who says what it is "supposed to be"?
I think you have a very parochial view that does not reflect the realities of the potential being exploited here.
When a brand is first established, one needs to ask the scope and purpose.
Obviously the organizers want to make the possibility for support as broad as possible.
Not just Texas. Not just USA. But the entire North and South American continent can participate and feel to be part of it.
This means a much larger base of potential sponsors and fans from a much greater region can consider this their home race.
They have adopted an inclusive strategy not an exclusive one. Makes it "our" race rather than "their" race for a greater audience.
I'm sure Mexico and others are glad for it. As a Canadian, I'll be the first in line for tickets to Austin.
