thanks a lot guys the results will be posted on my
webpage in the NC results section.
In this thread, on Quintin's site and at
this site Mario Andretti is entered in Silverstone race in a Lotus-Cosworth 77 with number 21. But at
this site by Rob Ryder there is a pic of him in Wolf-Williams FW05 with same number. Is there a simple explanation I'm missing? I'd expect a Lotus anyway... But, as a picture is worth a hundred words I'm pointing this so that others who collect it can correct the wrong data. Also, I didn't check the other entries, to see if there are any more mistakes.

He drove the Wolf-Williams. I was there, and remember it. The Autosport race report confirms this (together with photo), as does the Sheldon 'Black Book'.

There is at least one other mistake in the above listings - Jacky Ickx was third in the Race of Champions in another Williams FW05, not a Hesketh 308C. Same basic car, I know, but at that stage of its career it was officially known as a Williams.
Autosport report of the race, this page and several following. Some interesting trivia, including uncle Martini in a Ferrari.

Ah! The big debate, when is a Hesketh a Williams? If you look at my two photos on the RSC website they are slightly different. #20 is an unmodified but repainted Hesketh, but #21 is the Williams modified Hesketh. Any comments would be welcomed.
On the same note.. in 1962 was Bianchi's car an Emeryson or an ENB?

Or when did a D50 become a Ferrari. I suspect I'm going to be regarded as somewhat inconsistent here, as I refuse to countenance such names as 'JPS II' or 'Marlboro-Texaco M23', (when it could be argued that a team can call its car what it bloody well likes). However, in this case, if one chooses to to call the unmodified Williams-run car a Hesketh 308C, exactly when in its development does one switch to calling it a Williams FW05? Most (if not all?) contemporary reports (plus DCN's Racers book) refer to them as Williams FW05s from the start of the season.

I think that in some ways it is personal preference.
In my own database I have only 1 FW05 listed, chassis 03 that was built at Williams. Chassis 01 and 02 I always have as Hesketh 308C. Sheldon on the other hand stays with 308C/01 for FW05/01, but moves from 308C/02 to FW05/02 for the whole of 1976.
I am with you on the JPS/Marlboro thing - always Lotus/McLaren.

Thanks for spoting the Mismake, I shall fix it up soon, BTW, in the book the forgotten races by Chris Ellard he to lists Mario driving a Wolf Williams-Ford
