In the past, I think the qualifying wasn't a strong point from Alonso. He used to be a much better racer than a qualifyer.
At the start of this year, I believed he would have problems beating Massa because Massa had the reputation to be a qualifying specialist, but he proved me wrong.
He has improved in that aspect IMO.

LOL yea, I'm sure that's what Ferrari pay him for, to beat his teammate!

They pay him to get the best out of the car.
I haven't seen anything to suggest that the team is particularly unhappy with his efforts so far.

On topic, I hope/think Alonso will grab 1st on the 1st lap, good luck 2 him!

Today again great qualifying from Fernando. 0.344 faster than Massa in Q3 and 0.620 in Q2. Just for comparison: Hamilton was 0.415 faster than Button in Q2 and in Hamilton thread everybody say something like "Oh, how great this Hamilton is". So i think it's pretty fair to say that Alonso had also great qualy.
I like Alonso fans always bringing Q2 and even Q1/P1-P3 up. More so that Felipe had 3 cars traffic in his fast lap on softs in Q2.
RAce pace was similar, somehow disappointing from Fernando as we were said about "ownage" here.

both of them trulli and hamilton are quali-specialist and alonso was at eyelevel with them --> that means he is very good in quali (not to forget in those years, quali wasnt driven with low fuel, there were fuel in for race and so the teammates almost always had different fuel loads in!)

Fantastic race by Fernando. Well, you don't expect anything less from the best F1 driver.
He's back to his usual form. No mistakes at all.
Great race, shame that the car is not on par with the bulls. 20 points behind the leaders. The WDC is more likely than ever but Ferrari need to close the gap ASAP.

I'm no Alonso lover though I appreciate his racing. I supported the decision at Hockenheim, and the standings after Hungaroring show just how good a decision they made. At Hockenheim Massa was out of WDC fight, Alonso still had a reasonable chance.

Italian TV said during the race that Alonso had hydraulic problmes withhis steering wheel.
Have you heard anything about this?
On a normal circuit Ferrari wouldn't be one second behind, so Fernando needn't worry. Hungary really is a one-off and is all about maximum downforce in the fast (and narrow) kinks at the back. Even though Sector 2 at Spa should be terrible for Ferrari, it can still compensate that with top speed through the other two sectors - so I suppose he'll have a fighting chance there.

Great wknd from Alonso. Did the maximum both Saturday & Sunday. No errors, no overdriving. This is the kind of performance that he was well known for. Thumbs up. Hope Ferrari can find some speed & he can get himself back into the thick of the WDC race.

2. Hamilton - 47 (49) 2

Maranello, 2 August – On the day after the Hungarian Grand Prix and following a long and in-depth debriefing this morning, Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo gathered together all the staff of the Gestione Sportiva in the Logistica pavilion to look at the current situation as the final third of the season approaches. Along with Team Principal Stefano Domenicali and the senior Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro engineers, Fernando Alonso was also present, having flown back from Budapest to Maranello last night with the team, as he is spending a few days working alongside his engineers, before the final sprint in the World Championship.
Naturally, everyone at the GeS, as the Gestione Sportiva is known, is very pleased with the way the result of the last couple of races has reopened the situation in the two classifications: there was spontaneous applause for Fernando and also, in absentia for Felipe, who has already flown back to Brazil to spend the summer break with his family. However, it is clearly understood that the work load has to be stepped up even further, and it needs to be of the highest standard in order to close the technical gap to the fastest cars, which is significant, as was demonstrated yesterday in Budapest.
They'll have to work a lot to win the Championship but at least they seem determined to do it.
