Crikey, that looks pretty bad. At first, when I noticed that it was in the 'Politics' section, I thought it would be something about them damn locals complaining about the noise again, but this looks like it can be resolved without much furore.

Good luck to them for a quick fix and they can be back up and running soon.

Looks like expensive work to fix that, complete re landscape and re lay large portion of track and rebuild bridge. Reminds me of the collapsed bridges in the lake district in northern england last year, small cracks in road appear then the whole thing goes without warning (well, they had swollen rivers running underneath).

They should divert the remaining contractors from Donington to do this work...

The arch wasn't strong enough, concrete too thin in section.

Can anyone transcribe and summarise in English?

Modern box culvert construction can be completed very efficiently under roadways, to rebuild across closed road is even more straightforward. The only real possible headache comes down to the local soil geology and drainage. First visual glance I would say is there has been subsidence due to ingress of water. I'm sure we'll be at Spa for the best round of them all in 2010. clap.gif

A hole has appeared, and workmen are looking into it.

if nothing else it should make pedestrian traffic around the track better...those old tunnels are very cramped on raceday - the images at the end of the article suggest the new tunnel will be more spacious.

Well ... after 32 years.... you expect something to crack after a hard long winter..

keep in mind that the complete construction of the tunnel was unchanged from 1978!...

better now then in the middle of the racing season...
