Hey guys,

I could not find a dedicated qually thread so I have posted here...

As part of my analysis on 'Making Up The Numbers', I like to have a look at the qualifying times. Last year was a lot more fun because of all the calculations related to the fuel weights, but in it's place I have decided to look at the lap times and number of laps run for each qualifying session. I hope you enjoy it and please let me know what you think: http://f1numbers.wordpress.com/2010/03/13/...rst-gp-of-2010/

P.S. - apologies for the lateness, but due to prior commitments I was not able to watch qualifying until this afternoon...

Where did you come across this:

McLaren are supposed to be running, the team was expected to be much faster. However, there are stories floating around the internet that McLaren compromised their qualifying by raising the ride height so that the car will run better with a heavy fuel load tomorrow.

I think I saw it on Twitter somewhere - have had a lot of information to digest today. I can't verify it, but I would not be surprised if McLaren and other teams were in fact doing this...

From your graph is clear the only team don´t afraid about tire ware is Ferrari. Hope they are right. ambivalent.gif

Nice analysis. up.gif Slight criticism, if you dont mind:

The first observation worth making is that the number of laps decreases in each session run – in fact, only half the amount of laps were run in Q3 than Q1.

Q1 - 20 minutes
Q3 - 10 minutes

Makes perfect sense that the drivers would have done half as many laps in a session half as long, ya know? tongue.gif
