How on earth are we slower than Sauber and Williams !!??

0.3s slower than Mercedes ohwell.gif I have no idea what's going on.

Both cars seems really off the pace, what's happening, is it the wind like the mentioned?

It can be either wind or track temp. What a shame .... slower than Sauber drunk.gif

EDIT:

I might be also the direction of the wind. It slows them down on the straight and you know ..... F-Duct

IMHO there problems with the option tyres in Renault.

EDIT: Maybe it would be better to qualy on the prime tyres and "do a Kobayashi" in the race?

That was close. Kubica didn't do clean fast lap. Last one was good and He made a mistake in last sector- the fastest one for him for whole weekend. Hope He can manage clean one when it counts.

@Alburaq why You edited your comment?? It was so good smile.gif

It's no about clean lap. We're off the pace a bit. Maybe wind, maybe temperatures, I don't know. Something is wrong, that's for sure.

Anything better than P10 will be a success in these circumstances ....

Off the pace sure. BUT last fast lap in q2- S1 best S2 best S3 slooooooow 0,5 off his pace....
CaptainJackSparrow
6th, where did he pull that from?!
CaptainJackSparrow
Can I just say though, what the frak was going on there!

RK saved that at the end, 6th is good, but jeepers creepers!
rehto
WOW!!!!! KUBICA IS the best driver smile.gif)) P6 with the struggling Renault. Great place, and clean lap with fast S3.

Out of his nose I presume.

No, really, considering I almost passed out when he made it through Q2 10th, it's a splendid result.

P6 is what I expect.

I was right but.... after all this... Great result. Stunning lap from Kubica.
CaptainJackSparrow
Yeah but the Renault was almost half a second off the Merc.

Kubica put in a binder but I suspect something (wind?) seriously degraded the car here.

I have no idea, but definetely something was wrong with the car, he lost 0.4s to Rosberg and that's too much. In normal circumstances Renault isn't 0.4s off Mercedes' pace.

BTW:
Sebastian Vettel - 1:29.615
+1.4s Robert Kubica.

How is it possible ??
alecc
He splited the McLarens, Merdeseses and Ferraris, not bad for so much struggling in Q1 and Q2 up.gif

RB is way, waaaay over the pace, and Renault is under the pace, that how it is possible.

I mean that they have already reduced the gap, but now it's like in Bahrain.

Guys, it's the gusting wind I think, varying between 3 to 9 mph.
Remember Silverstone was built on an airfield up.gif
Good race tomorrow I'm sure, that bump in the middle of Abbey curve will add to the spice early in the race ( full fuel loads) and at the end (worn tyres) smoking.gif
Go RENAULT, Go KUBICA clap.gif

It's only the track... Chill. On Hocke they should be fine.

P6 is a realistic result for Kubica; in Q2 he was able to bring the same result but he did a very bad S3 in the very last minutes (36.5 instead of his best 36.1)

so P6 is not a miracle.

but crealy there is a problem...

Kubica doesn't have a clause that gets him out

Turun Sanomat 9.7 2010 23:26:42

Renault wants to correct through Turun Sanomat the claims that Robert Kubica would be free to leave the team before his contract expires in 2012.

According to Renault they work as a top team and they also make contracts accordingly. Therefore there is no such clause in Kubica's contract.

If we look only at the place P6 is realistic for Renault and Kubica, but looking at times it's not good. 4 tenths to Rosberg is too much .....

It will be hard for Petrov to contribute even 1 point to the team tomorrow.

It seems that there are problems, but we do not know why - Robert admitted. - Unfortunately, yesterday in the second training time lost due to some technical problem and we were not sure which direction to go with the settings. Vitaly was much more satisfied with my car and use the other parts. I had problems with the level of grip and overall performance.

He was actually really showing some pace and confidence, he didn't get a chance to do a good lap in Q2 due to some car failure...

It looked more like going out of fuel on one stint, if it were a car failure he wouldn't go out for one more stint where he maked P16 (after first stint it was P17)
metz
His sector times were very inconsistent.
He wasn't held up, as I could see.
It looked like he was trying out different lines.
Not something you do in Q2.

Let's get this straight, at SILVERSTONE Kubica is P6 and ahead of:-
1 McLaren with the original f-duct,
1 Ferrari with an f-duct and major upgrades,
1 Mercedes with major upgrades, and
some people are STILL MOANING confused.gif
Miracles Robert can do, the IMPOSSIBLE will take a little longer smoking.gif

Alan Permane, Chief Race Engineer
This weekend hasn’t been the most straightforward for us, but it’s difficult to pinpoint where we are struggling. Overall I think Robert’s sixth place is pretty much where we deserved to be, but it was a real fight to get him up there. He and his engineers did an excellent job in Q3 and managed to get the best out of the tyres, which brought him up to P6. Obviously P16 is disappointing for Vitaly, but we had a fuel pick-up problem during Q2. The mechanics did a great job to get the car turned around in time for another run, but it wasn’t enough to get him into Q3. It’s a real shame for Vitaly because he had matched Robert this morning and did a strong job in Q1.
CaptainJackSparrow
Well I think for whatever reason the setup was a bit whack this weekend, so in light of that I think we will all take 6th and run with it.

Depending how things go tomorrow, 6th gives the change for big points or even podium finishes, so good recovery, looking forward to the race.

Would be nice if RK could get up on the podium, you never know;)

He was ahead of one struggling McLaren.
He was ahead of one Ferrari with rubbi...Massa behind the wheel.
He was ahead of one Mercedes with old driver behind the wheel.

However all this above is nothing special, he often is in front of these guys.
What IS important and worrying at the same time is that he was 0.4s behind Rosberg. It is too much, we were on par or even ahead of Mercedes in recent races. This is why some people are STILL MOANING.

We were in front of these guys on slow tracks, I know that Renault made some expectations about their fast-corner pace, but it looks like the car still looks better on slow tracks, so fingers crossed for Hungary smile.gif

Q3 is the achilles heel for the Renault R30, 1 lap when either traffic or at Silverstone a sudden gust of wind can make a cars performance look below par.
Race-day I expect a slightly better performance, sure the dirty side of the grid to start but Kubica is looking glued to the track in the corners, and especially in the new section. up.gif
That bump at Abbey will play havoc in the first few laps on a full fuel load, and again at the end if tyre wear becomes an issue.
Given Robert's pretty faultless race day performances so far in 2010, I'm confident that he can FINISH higher than his grid position.
I think reliability and some of the leading cars bottoming out at turn 11 will present opportunities for Robert to capitalise smoking.gif
Here's to an incident and safety car free race clap.gif
