That's gotta be the most elaborate front wing on the grid surely, look at it

I'm not a fan of Renault and I'm definitely not going to get in this stupid Kubica bandwagon that everyone else is getting on, but their development is impressive

Or is it?

They're still a bloody factory team, shit.

People are acting like they're a small privateer punching above their weight. It's like every race is a Belgium 2009 for the Renault Fanboys.

I suppose it's quite a lot. If it was only a bit more, he would say that the upgrades are not working as well as they expected them to do.

Not really, Renault have already proved everything they have needed to. This whole "wow small team doing so well Kubica is awesome" mentality is a joke, though.

Anybody noticed new sticker, possibly new sponsor, near the old positioning of the exhaust?

Why so? Renault is an example of "from zero to hero". There were gossips that they wouldn't make a grid this year and there they are. Competetive with certain future.

Im afraid you suffer from hindsight bias mate.

Please do some research and read opinions and predictions made by people from this board before season 2010 regarding Renault and Kubica's choice. Vast majority said renault will struggle even more without Symonds and Briatore, some people said they will be last of all established teams and so on. I doubt you can find forumer who correctly predicted Renault position. Most optimistic guys were talking about fighting for points on some occasions. I havent seen you among them but feel free to prove me wrong.

Its easy to see their heredity now but every month since 2007 they were farer form the sharp end of the grid and Crashgate looked like the end for them.

The amount of work Renault is putting into it's front wing is unbelieavable, almost every track they add some turning vanes to the endplate eek.gif

After the aero cut front wing has to do the work previously done by all those funy earo bits attched to the body work, but it's good to see Renault seem to know what they're doing in that regard.

I remember pretty much people talking that Kubica made the bad choice, that he should stay at Sauber, because they will be much more competetive due to BMW that started the 2010 development early roflmao.gif

I have just noticed that Petrov runs with old FW. I wonder if it turned out that the thing does not work or it is just 2nd driver treatment in Renault.

I was one of those who were optimistic about this season. All that people who said that Renault is dead were really 'stupid' because they forgot that Renault's failures between 2007 and 2009 were caused by many factors that are now gone. (like the cut budget, obsolete wind tunnel, under-equipped CFD...)
And he R30 was FAST in the winter testing ! as fast as the Mercedes and even faster between Valecia and Jerez.
Unfortunately, nowadays, many so called 'observers' have a simplistic and superficial way to 'analyse'...

Renault isn't a surprise.

I call it an update. The R30 seen in Bahrein is a deeply updated winter testing R30.

It wasn't really a question. You can call it anything you like but a car presented at the first race of the season is not "an update". This is some weird discussion.

After FP2 Kubica said that the car "has more grip", but there is still room for improvement and they will try to make the package work even better overnight. But still he believes they are fighting with Mercedes for line 4 on the grid. Tires seem to be working much better here than in Canada, so rears' degradation should not be a big concern.

I've just read his, and Allan Permane comments after FP1 and 2 on the official F1 website and must say I'm bit confused about what you say. So we close the gap or not?

However, he believes it still has more work to do before it is able to extract the full competitive benefit from them, particularly the new floor.

“It’s okay,” he said of the revised car.

“We have seen I think a bit what we were expecting, although maybe we have to get used to it and make a few changes to extract maximum from it.

“We feel a bit more grip, especially on full throttle – although normally on full throttle you are not limited by the grip.

“So still I think we have to make a few changes to extract the maximum from the floor and we have a couple of disadvantages of the new floor so we have to make sure for the future we improve it so we can gain more than here.”

Well it sounds he means coming out of corners...

ie, coming out of corners, the amount of throttle input is dictated by grip, and when you are full throttle you can assume you are no longer limited by grip... if that makes sense?

The higher revs the more efficient diffusor and more grip smile.gif

I think that's why Red Bull are that good in high speed corners, since they have more down force from EDD.

The new principal Eric Boullier and outstanding Robert Kubica form the bedrock for resurgence after 'crashgate'

Article is about renewed Renault F1 team. Niec read. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/jun/2...-one-resurgence

And there is a quote:
QUOTE
Boullier is confident that Kubica will be driving for a top team next season and that the team will be Renault. "We are optimistic," he said. "It's nearly done – there is a contract in my suitcase." From Kubica's point of view this reinvented team probably offer the best seat next season.
