So that's how they've done it. It's difficult to see because the front end of the sidepod is painted black and looks like the floor of the car, but the sidepod is actually much further forward than it was last year. They've managed to seat their driver further back and shorten the monocoque, which is funny because neither Kubica or Petrov are tiny blokes.

Ahh yes, Lopez who was making sure that everyone knew that Petrov wasn't portrayed as a pay driver. Obviously, we can take him at face value.
Given that Renault were caught out in the Singapore investigation and McLaren raised the ire of the stewards in Melbourne, Renaut have a lot of incentive to be 100% honest. It's pretty clear that they want to distance themslves from the time of Briatore.

So, who was offering twice as much when it has been known that Pettrov had more cash than anyone else? Ho Pin? Heidfeld? Seriously, what a load of old tosh.
I've since double-checked, and it seems to rumours of Petrov's bank balance come from
Bild, hardly the most reliable source on the planet. Honestly, you should be applauding the fact that Petrov admits he is a pay driver, instead of trying to hide it and preteding he doesn't have anything. Russians are like that: they're up-front about these things. At least, all the Russians that I know are like that.
Once again, I have to ask you: why are you gettng stuck into Petrov for being a pay driver? It's clear your issue is with pay drivers in general, but you are singling him out when there's probably only a handful of drivers who are actually earning anything for their efforts - and a good number of them, like Schuamcher, had to pay to begin with.

Lopez was protesting too much. Petrov was hired for his cash. It is up to Renault to pretend otherwise, but everyone knows the truth.
Lopez made one comment. If that's "protesting too much", I'd hate to see your defintion of "just enough" is.

Who would score more points? Nick Heidfeld, or Petrov? Who has beaten the lead driver 2.5 out of 3.5 times? Who would need to get paid, and who would pay the team over 10 million squid?
There are no guarantees in Formula 1. You know that. To say that Nick Heidfeld would be a dead cert for it would be moronic. For all you know, Renault dismissed the idea of Heidfeld before they even considered Petrov because they didn't want to partner Kubica with him again. And you're right in saying that Heidfeld would need to be paid - Renault could have dsmissed him because they felt he was too expensive.
And here's the kicker: it's
Renault who know what is best for Renault, not you. That's why Renault are the ones makeing the decisions.

Petrov is paying Kubica's wage. What a sad end to the world championship team

Rubbish - Kubica was signed months ago, and doubtless his salary was already a part of their budget. And even if Petrov was paying for him, I'd say the sadder end a World Championship team would be the way their team principal bullied a driver into deliberately crashing so that his team-mate could win a race in the single worst case of match-fixing in history.
