I'm not sure if my reading just isn't up to par today, or if this article really reads as poorly as I think does but...
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80365

After reading this, I have no idea if Theissen is staying with BMW, or staying with Sauber. He has said before that he'd stay with the team, but I can't tell what he's indicating in this article. Can anyone clarify?
robracer
He is staying as BMW motorsport director. So he isn't in F1 anymore, he is with BMW.

BMW's Mario Theissen leaves Formula 1

This could explain it better.

I hope he doesnt shave off that fantastic mo.

Its what gives him cred. And he has loads around F1 circles up.gif Like me, a fellow stud up.gif

That's a shame. I liked Mario's presence and his interview in the F1 circle.

Maybe Sauber wants to bring Villeneuve back and Mario walked away? tongue.gif
Conk
Well I must say it is good to see the back of that guy, he was a roadblock to success at Williams and he also managed to fail at BMW/Sauber. Surprised he still has a job @ BMW.
F1 is all the better without him.

Nice try Mario but here is the door out of F1 wave.gif

A shame, he was very capable.

This is basicly anouncing his retirement. BMW retires it's management-jobs at 60 with a golden handshake. So 3 years on some godforsaken office left for Mario

It's his choice. He doesn't have stay with BMW, although Sauber may not want him.
shonguiz
It's a logical move, if sauber buys the team then he will automatically be the new team manager, what's left for MArio then ? Nothing.

Or continue to oversee the WTCC-program while at the same time overseeing the the new GT3 Z4-program and the Endurance M3 GTR GT3(2) programme and a possible M3 GT2 programme in Europe.

Pretty busy before going into retirement in other words.

Never rated the guy personally. This won´t be a loss to F1.
Bye bye Mario, and try to stay out of the other projects in the factory. You´ll only bugger them up. wave.gif

He didn't fail, Sauber become a much more competitive team when BMW took ownership, even winning a race and being title contenders in 2008.

Also, the only reason Williams managed to win more GPs after Renault left them is because of their partnership with BMW. Without BMW Williams would have been mediocre, much like they are now.

Yes, they were championship contenders in 2008 and then Mario decided to concentrate on 2009...
Ask Robert Kubica.

Well that tactic certainly seemed to work for Brawn, so I don't really see how it was the wrong decision, it was obvious they weren't going to win in 2008.

Sauber would never have been in that position without BMW. They saved Sauber from going the same way as Jordan and Minardi, back of the grid no hopers.

The big difference was that Honda had nothing to loose in 2008 anyway. BMW decided it's 'job done for this year' in the middle of 2008 which, combined with other factors starting with the letter "K", it turned out to be a terrible decision which got them out of the sport, that's what wrong with it.

This is a complet myth that we have heard too often on this forum.

They did NOT abandon the development in mid 2008.
The problem is the many updates they made brought no improvements.

Dr.T's failure was with KERS in 2009. A total disaster. Had they not started (like RB and BGP) or improved the system (like Mac or SF) they would have done much better. Instead, they started over and failed every race, untill the Valencia updates, which didn't actually work out, till Brazil. Add to that the engine failures and the pit comedy and wrong strategy, I'd say total failure for Dr.T.

Well he's off now.
His fat BMW pension is obviously more attractive than anything to do with F1.
