This is rather amusing

http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2010/Dec/10...linedwards2.htm

Colin doesn't seem to think Cal is in the same league as Ben as well. I'd say lets see.

Andy

I agree lets wait and see. Im not sold that Cal should have skipped over Moto2 and strait in to MotoGP. I also dont see any Simoncelli, Barbera. Bautista, and Aoyama. We will see. I like Cal though. I wouldnt blame Colin though for saying that. What Ben did in 2009 was impressive in SBK. For all I know he would have done the same thing in Supersport.

This is going to last shorter than Antonio Banderas' team. At least he turned up for the races. lol.gif

Let's hope there is not a Paris Hilton, Bradley Smith sex tape in the next 12 months.

Chubby_Deuce
That's hot.

Guys that article is sensationalist, what they truly mean is that Hilton will be present at the launch function (as a media attraction). She is a function whore, she gets paid to attend functions all the time like that Kurdishanian girl (the one with dat ass, you know whom I mean).

I seriously doubt she put up her own money for the team.

AFAIK, she is actually involved with the funding as well. At what level, I'm not sure, but her name is on the branding, so it must be fairly substantial.
Ross Stonefeld
Im gonna theorise that it's the other way. She's probably been paid a fee to license her name/image to the team and gets a % of revenue that comes from it. Her current boy thing, whoever the hell he is, is friendly with Marco Andretti but I doubt even that is enough to turn someone into a junior team owner.

Some celebs have their own brand of cosmetics, clothes and what not. Do you think any of them invest their own money? Of course not, they get paid up front for their name and a percetage from profits (if any) for whoring 'their' product line at every opportunity.

C'mon! How much can you earn from a 125cc team anyway!? Someone like Paris can earn all she wants by making a few (paid) club appearance in Vegas or Miami.

She must be getting a fees upfront to rent her name. Likely she will make appearances at some of the races. Quite why a 125cc team feels the need for Parish Hilton as their racing mascot is beyond me, perhaps they are trying to attract sponsors usually linked with 'party' lifestyle. It's something different, I'll give them that.

Parrish-Hilton? It'll never last.

Cocky little bastard, aint he?

I'd like to see him do well next year, but he seems to already believe he's proven himself good enough for MotoGP. Could be in for a bit of an awakening as the competition gets tougher and tougher.
ViMaMo
Maybe Hilton will do it on a 125cc bike ( behind-the-scenes footage of Paris Hilton's team.......... new flash: Paris Hilton caught with her mechanic.... dating him..... dumps him....... dumps the team).

And she's getting paid for this too. It's really no difference, and any % she'd get off money coming in means no work for her. In that sense it's not really different from licensing her name to a perfume or other product.

In this case i guess it really is a case of any publicity is good.Paris Hilton gets published for doing next to nothing so actually doing something in this instance may get the team photo in a few newspapers or news bulletins.

From the World Superbike championship's rules for 2011:

QUOTE
RE-STARTING A RACE THAT HAS BEEN INTERRUPTED
(AFTER RED FLAG)

The final race classification (of the restarted race) will be established according to the position and the consolidated number of laps of each rider at the time he crossed the finish line at the end of the last part of the race.

That sounds like the end of aggregate races, then. Which, given the propensity of non-GP bikes to leak oil and/or crash, is of practical importance. Shame, I thought Race 2 at Valencia, with Haga behind on the road but absolutely at the limit to win by .025s, was the most exciting race of the year. And there were many to choose from.

Still, it'll end those times when a slow-starting rider with a good bike underneath him not only has to lead the second race, but additionally pull a huge gap on the trailing/drafting pack.

Anyone else planning on going to Donington Park's WSBK round to welcome them back into international racing?

Superb. I mean, I think I have all these in my 'archive' already, but superb anyway. Seems to be a real interest for old racing broadcasts these days.

Has AMG sponsored Ducati before this?

I wonder if there's any technical tie-up. Are Ducati still working with Ferrari on engine development at all?

The 1988 French GP, shown last night was Fabulous ! I'd not seen it before, cracking race.

And 35 odd bike in the top class, monsterous up.gif

But one has to say, I can see why Toby and Julian don't get seen on camera much kiss.gif
Risil
With the greatest of respect and gratefulness; Toby and Jules remind me of a couple of gnomes who are only allowed out of their motorcycle cave at Christmastime. stoned.gif

Paul Ricard made some good races, didn't it? Must be all the long, sweepy corners after the ridiculous first complex. Wish it were still available for MotoGP; Le Mans has a good look to it, but I can't think of a single good race there (Guintoli and De Puniet's ill-advised heroics in 2007 notwithstanding lol.gif ).

Just spent xmas at my uncles who I haven't seen in a few years, but every time I used to visit he would have a new bike to show me (usually had some classic nortons that would win bike shows). Saw something under wraps in the garage on my way in but when I asked him about it I think he thought I was being patronising as I was never really that into it as a kid, so he didn't take me down and show me before I left. Just found out it was a black shadow insured for almost 100k cry.gif
