I think we will struggle to find the ultimate laptime with the car. I fear we will behind the Ferrari this weekend as we get more data and perfect our set-up. I am not that confident to be honest. On the track the car looked a little nervous compared to Redbulls and Ferrrari (also merceded).

I hope i am wrong and we get all the updates working and Vroom we up-there with RBs.

Well PF2 was the wrong setup direction so FP1 is a better guide by the sound of it. Parts still arriving at 01:30 this morning means the learning curve is seriously steep. Overnight could change a lot of things.

But 3rd and 4th would be a good outcome from the weekend anyway I think. Lots of more suitable tracks coming up.

There was posted a picture earlier, I don't remember for what qualifying or race, but it was an LH-ed 'Obama' with a "Chill the **** out! I got this!" caption.

That picture might be ready for tomorrow, just in case. smile.gif It would fit in if an MP4-25 got into the second row.

As I said even after Montreal, Silverstone will be Red Bull's race to lose.

yea that was during pre-season testing, thats were the emotions roller-coaster started

Fair to say that it was an interesting day.

Red Bull look very, very strong but I am not concerned about the apparent problems with the MP4-25. Lewis was quick but erratic this morning whereas both drivers seemed to struggle for pace in the afternoon. Exactly like Canada IIRC.

Our guys have some work to do to get the set up right but we will be in the hunt, I think.

The fastest man of the day, Webber, predicts - McLaren aren’t showing everything today. I think they’re waiting to unleash the car tomorrow.

Don't you think he's just saying this to alleviate the pressure on Red Bull/himself and put some more on McLaren to perform tomorrow?

It's one thing to sandbag, but to sandbag and plow Silverstone's grass and soil for 90 minutes is another.

Ofcourse, but that's always the case. I'm just saying, in Istanbul they came back as well, proved to be the quickest overall, and won.

I'd love it if Silverstone was a repeat of Turkey.

I want to see McLaren for once in front of RBR at an RBR track.

AMUS writes that the technicians discuss to go back to the old config.
Some parts at the back became very hot, the bump at T11 doesn´t help either as it was very unexpecting for the team.
The car is ok with heavy fuel but hard to handle with low fuel.
segedunum
You only need to look at the car visually. It's unstable under braking and very unstable in high speed corners especially when there are bumps. The Red Bull by comparison is positively serene. That's why Hamilton is going off. He's trying to find speed that isn't there.

Comment from inside Ferrari

InsideFerrari A reasonable session with a lot of things to do. Red Bull is very strong as expected, other teams eventually covered their real performance

you the person off f1 technical who for the frist half of the year said Mclaren where rubbish and where not going to be able to match redbull let alone get pole etc and keept saying the Mp4-25 could not do this or that and it was slow,

and said the same sort of things above every race weekend

If they referring to McLaren is true in theory (they are not THAT slow) - but even if they went as fast as they could it doesn't seem faster than Ferrari perhaps.

AMuS says engineers are analysing the data tonight - if the decision is made to go back to the old config then it will be done through the night. Some components got too hot, the rear was unstable - especially under braking. The car is good with lots of fuel but very difficult when the car is light. Hamilton went off 7 times.

Not a brilliant upgrade so far - shame really - cause visually the upgrade looked 'fast'.

They can't rebuild the car to old package between FP3 and Qualifying. There's not enough time.

AMuS isn't saying they are going to revert - they are saying the engineers are discussing it now as a serious option.

Wooooooops! wave.gif

McLaren debuted in Formula 1 16 years later.

Drivers' title is the more important, considering e.g. how 'happy' Ferrari was in Interlagos in 2008. McLaren has 12 to Ferrari's 15, despite started competing in F1 much later. Add to that McLaren raced in Can-Am too, winning 5 titles, in an era when it was as prestigious as F1 (just check the notable drivers and its history). Even Ferrari attempted Can-Am with little succes; 0 Can-Am title and 0 Triple Crown!

McLaren is the only racing team having the Triple Crown. To date, no other manufacturer has won the Formula 1 World Championship, the Indianapolis 500 and Le Mans 24 Hours.

I hope you don't think it's Bruce's fault he born much later than Enzo Ferrari and started racing 'only' when he was 14. wave.gif

But anyway, we're in 2010. And the subject was 2010 in that post too what you replied to.

Looks like Lewis had fun, too despite he was going off sometimes

"I had a big grin on my face when I got to full throttle. It makes a nice difference. I don't know whether it makes as big a difference as perhaps they thought, but it's something that you have to tweak.

"You saw the Ferraris ran theirs at the last race, and it didn't just work. The same for Mercedes, it didn't just work. You don't just bolt it on and it works. It's something you have to adjust.

"At least it's running well. I do feel a difference. The front wing's very good as well, and there's clearly a lot of potential."
......
although he admits is rather bumpy - and he was caught out a few times - Hamilton says he enjoyed.

"It was nice, it is bumpy, probably a bit more bumpy on our car for some reason, so that was we're trying to fix. Otherwise it's very fast, very flowing.

"I don't think it upsets the swing of the track or anything. Like I've said it's a little bit different turning right at Abbey instead of going left into the chicane. But it's still very fast, it's picking up grip bit by bit. There is a big bump going into Turn 11, but that just makes it more exciting.

"Through the couple of hairpins its very slippery. It's low speed compared to the rest of the track, and obviously you set the car up for the high speed corners, but unfortunately that means at the low speed corners you struggle a little bit more, but that's the sacrifice you

they are the best engineers on the grid presently because they are winning...

do you not understand that logic?

point all you want to past success doesn't change the fact your not the best in business right now... mclaren are and thats why they have more WCC points than ferrari (and every other team) and the drivers are further up the standings...

(also you actually have very little of that golden generation existing in ferrari any longer, especially the key components, ferrari is a shadow of its oldself right now)
