ps, they will find another way to substitue for the diffusrs.

Didn't McLaren recently say that they have a solution that would circumnavigate the rules if the floor had to be seen as one solid piece from all viewpoints (as is proposed)?
Buttoneer
Brawn claims that he offered to close the loophole long before the start of the season in the technical (or was it overtaking?) working group. OK, they decided not to take him up on that, but one would hope that the McLaren representative would be as honest with them and ensure that the intent (reduction in downforce) is not circumnavigated.

So that's it folks - only one year left to bask in it's glorious rectitude.

So after the Abu Dhabi GP we'll have to say farewell to the Diffuser of Final Justice™ of the SilverSpeedBeast of Ultimate Racing™©®. cry.gif biggrin.gif

All they need to do is outsource their web/streaming server or rediirect requests to the ISP that will actually be hosting the streams and have the ISP agree to allocate bandwidth on demand for the period of the launch. The ISP can load balance the event across multiple servers. These will certainly take care of performance issues from the server side.

They'll be fine, we're all aware of Ron's demands for perfection - if the online launch is a failure you can rest assured the Manager responsible will be at Force India the day after applying for a job...

This is a launch at Vodafone UK HQ. Possibly on vodafone's website. And if that is the case, there should be no issues.
SAFC09
I like to watch UFC prelims and weigh-ins on the official site, if i watch from the start i don't have any problems but if i start watching after the event has started that's when i have problems
werks prototype
I think the Vodafone part is key to a nice steady stream. At least they won't have a cluttered up MTC and can keep working there without any interruptions. It's different.

Its the same with most over-subscribed live feeds. Hopefully Mclaren will upload it on Youtube ASAP after the event. P.S; Brock Lesnar is back and will fight winner of Mir vs Carwin. clap.gif

Mir has beefed up big-time. That choke hold on Kongo was mega impressive. The old Mir never have had the power to pull that off. The last time Mir and Brock faced off, Lesnar looked like he was 2 weight classes above. In their last fight, Lesnar manhandled Mir like a rag doll. This wouldn't happen again. Mir had added almost 28lbs in solid muscle. I'll start a UFC thread in paddock club, if none has been started already.

Wow, McLaren is streaming video online. Amazing technology... for 1993. roflmao.gif And their website will blow up too even if the video is 300x200, omgoobers. It's been said many times in the past, regardless of the quality of their racing, NASCAR has their media relations down pat. F1 needs to jump 20 years forward in their relations with modern media (ie internet), they're leaving a lot of money on the table.

QUOTE (ZooL @ Jan 21 2010, 09:47) *
Well I've been quite a vocal critic around here of Lacey.

He isn't good enough to be head of aero and he isn't proven to be the best in his discipline.

He got the concept of the car fundamentally wrong. We must have been the only idiots who didn't even understand the front aero solution required esp FWEP's.

I still believe we dont know what went wrong. People talk of wonderful development, but when you actually look back that was alot of development which was actually taking us even further the wrong way. All that development in the 1st half of the season was a waste of time goind further down the wrong path. Recall Whitmarhes words, they had to pull back and completely switch to another concept because they didn't understand what was going on and in essence went on to say they just had to blindly copy what others were doing because sometimes it just works.

Illey is an improvement. You may say the F60 wasn't great in his hands. BUT it had a better aero concept than the McLaren and hardly any development due to strategic decisions. The only real flaw the F60 had was the gearbox shape which blocked them from deploying an effective double diffuser, but that was just pure luck that McLaren had designed their gearbox the way they did and the way Ferrari did because neither of them expected the double diffuser area to be exploited.

I still don't think hes the right man, but it is an improvement.

I wish Lacey would still stay on the team though because its pretty likely he's a better aerodynamicist than members of the team he was leading.

Sorry for the delayed response.... as has been mentioned, you've completely misunderstood what the job roles are. The Chief Aerodynamicist looks after the car design, the Head of Aero is responsible for organising the department and making sure the people and tools are good enough.

Blame for getting the concept wrong lands mostly at the feet of the Chief Aerodynamicist, not having enough time / resource to get things tested is the fault of the Head of Aero.

golfball out.

Speaking of golf balls, I've always wondered why putting dimples on an F1 car (or part of it) wouldn't be beneficial aerodynamically. Surely teams have tried it, but I've never seen a story that mentions such a thing.

The cars don't travel fast enough to make dimpling an advantage. It's all about boundary layers, turbulance and reynold numbers. wink.gif

whats the advantage for mazak and mclaren showing the whole f1 teams there suppliers? i thought for critical stuff they sign a confidential agreement so that way they can have a advantage. Otherwise all the teams have mazak machines and well no advantage confused.gif

The advanatge to McLaren would be a cost reduction by allowing Mazak to use their name in their promotions. I'm sure Mazak aren't top secret.
