The key areas to focus on in the document are the aero changes that were proposed for the 2009 year, and now having watched this year unfold...it is very interesting to review..
For many that dont frequent the technical forum here, I think this is more a discussion not about the technical aspects in detail, but the clear direction Max Mosley was intent on taking things and also the indication of why so many of the teams objected to many of the ideas proposed...
Anyway...grab a coffee/tea whatever and have a read.... I am finding some very interesting parts including the whole discussion on MEMS (Micro-fabricated Electro-Mechanical ystems) turbulators!!
Basically very expensive sounding sticky strips to go on the front and rear wings to reduce drag to therefore reduce emissions and key development for roadcars!!!!!!!!????????!!!!!!!
The question in my mind is.....IS this really the place and modus for Formula 1? and secondly... surely an Indycar Oval Wing package set for the year on all F1 cars for all circuits does the same thing, but a lot cheaper than "MEMS".....i.e. reduce drag and therefore emissions???
The whole "lets reduce costs" by Max Mosley was a complete crock! What he was doing...was looking to reduce costs currently spent as they were..so that he could then force teams to spend a great deal more money on developing things in F1 for roadcars, I suspect, so that he could look back in the future and say....."Look what I did for for the future motor industry, by forcing this upon F1 teams..." Considering his EGO as presented to the world in his media interviews, in all matters relating to the last 18 months, I have no doubt this was his driving factor...
I is therefore very interesting to see if Jean Todt...continues down the path set-forth in this document or whether he focuses F1 back more to the pinnacle of "Racing" rather than the future of motor car development...
While some of you may have read this document a long time ago.... I never did...and I am finding the content of which, mainly geared for the 2011 championship as a proposal document...extremely worrying, if this is the continued push and future for F1.....
There is a very interesting diagram on AERO theory of overtaking, where F1 compares to other motorsport disciplines on page 14.... basically...last!
Anyway....I am sure the FIA evangelists will get involved in this to defend the honour and all that....but I thought for those that had not seen this...it makes a very interesting read...
