Thanks for the heads up
Id forgotten about that. Who else than Bianchi do you reckon is worth paying attention to?
Charles Pic, the polesitter, seems to be a pretty talented young guy. He absolutely destroyed Brendon Hartley last year in WSBR, and while he's not as consistent as he could have been, seems to have the raw pace he needs to impress at this level.
Oliver Turvey(starting 2nd) was one of the protagonists of the hard-fought battle for the 2008 British F3 title, along with Hartley and Alguersuari. For 2009, he was paired with Alguersuari at Carlin again, this time in WSBR, but Turvey was the one who came out on top, by a convincing degree. Jaime came on stronger at the the end of the season, but Oliver seemed to be on top of things from the get-go.
Alex Rossi is probably the most promising American driver out there right now thats actually making the ranks. He completely dominated FBMW America in 2008(10 wins out of 14 races), moved immediately on to Europe to race in Formula Masters, taking 4th in the championship first time-out, and is now doing a tour in GP2 Asia. He was very strong in the first round, and now with a new team, he still looks just as strong. He's also got his foot in the door with championship team ART, who he'll drive for full-time this year in GP
3.
Christian Vietoris is a decently experienced German who was Bianchi's biggest rival in F3 Euro last year. I dont seem to rate him as much as some others, but he's touted as an up-and-comer with potential.
Sergio Perez is probably the best Mexican driver out there right now. He's gone largely unnoticed, but raised a few heads when he won impressively in the wet at Monza in British F3. He then went on to GP2 the next year, and while he didn't set the world alight, he did beat his talented teammate, Edoardo Mortara. He'll be racing full-time with front runners Barwa Addax in the main GP2 series this year, so watch out for him. The 2010 GP2 title is most certainly within reach.
Finally, Marcus Ericsson, who just got back from winning the Japanese F3 title in his first-go, is back racing in Europe. He initially impressed by winning the UK FMBW championship, and then went on to get 5th in British F3 in a team that was not expected to be that high. Super Nova isn't exactly the team to be at if you want to win in GP2, but its still a foot in the door, and he's worth keeping an eye on.
