As the old F60 thread was closed and it´s not worth to open a new one for a car that gets no new developments, I decided to open a new one for next year´s car smile.gif

A user from a different boards translated a few things from the Autosprint magazine:

Some good information, we knew they were going with the Red Bull philosphy as they tested the nose but never used it at any race.

I think with the much larger fuel tanks a wheelbase increase is quite likely, obviously that goes for all cars.

I might add Domi think engine freeze development and no tests during the season are ridiculous. I think when Todt became president we will hear about changes in this areas.

Hopefully they can come up with another 655..

Another F2004. I doubt we'll see another car that superior from Ferrari for a while. I can dream though. love.gif

I was about to start a thread about this. It seems insane by Ferrari to stop developing the current car. All other teams says that now is the time when they test things for next years car, since there will be hardly any time to do it after the season. The tests they do with the 2010 cars before the season starts is basically just fine tuning.
Do Ferrari know something we don't? Well, obviously they know a lot that we don't, but maybe they knwo something no other team don't?

Seems a bit of a coincidence that they sign Alonso, get a mega sponsor deal and then stop trying to explore the current regulation with their current car.

And let's not forget that McLaren have already tested, and raced, a longer wheelbase car.

I don't see why everyone is saying that Ferrari's decision to stop developing the F60 is such a bad one. The larger fuel tanks on the cars are going to change weight distribution a lot, which will affect every other area of the car substantially. Sure, the aerodynamic regulations will be the same, and McLaren can hardly be faulted for their strategy of developing the MP4-24 as a step for next season. But Ferrari's strategy is equally valid.

Yeah but these parts will not be run this season. They aren't updates. Whats the point of putting them on Kimi's car? Fisi is Ferrari's 3rd driver for next season and will probably take part in winter testing so it is a good idea that he tries them out. We cant give them to Kimi as he will probably be driving for a rival team next year.

Well if Todt comes in as FIA President and removes the testing ban, then I'm sure we will also know what Ferrari know. But that will probably be a discussion for a diffferent day. wave.gif

well one factor is that they probably think its totally useless trying wing/diffuser upgrades on the current chassis.maybe the theyve worked out various solutions for next year's car(some of them posted by the OP) and they thnink the current car is the farthest thing from those...so its no real use taking new upgrades every weekend and trying them on this car.
its all speculation ofcourse but thats the only explanation i can think of..

the fact that ferrari may know a lot more than other teams is very possible indeed...equally divided,each team next year will have a total of 8 days of testing(excluding young driver testing) as mentioned in the winter testing thread...this certainly seems like no where near enough time to test a completely new car..
they may very well know a lot more and get a lot more than other teams.. in terms of days of testing allowed

"We"? I always thought that sounded very silly. You took the decision?
Anyway, what I am trying to say, if the chmapionship had started in Silverstone, Kimi would be leading, or almost leading. He is driving to help Ferrari to be third in WCC. Then they give Fisi the new stuff. You think Kimi will feel motivated to help Ferrari? Honestly, I would park the car and give them the finger.

I think you may have misunderstood my post.

I used the word "we" in the sense of a fans perspective. From where I come from it is commonly used in that way as a fan can feel part of a team by buying merchandise which helps fund the team and also supporting the team.

As regards to testing parts for the 2010 car. Why would Kimi be testing parts for the 2010 car when he is driving the F60 which is 2009's car? Kimi will never drive the F2010.

Fisi will not be getting new parts for quali or the race. Those parts are not for the F60. So what bearing will that have towards fighting for 3rd in the WCC?

Well, last year, we had a good thread going on the development of the Ferrari car (other cars for that matter) and somehow it got overrun by driver discussion.

Regardless, Ferrari have been developing the F2010 for some time now and have a good start on development.

heh, I wonder how solid this place's source is?

Anyway, I'd be really surprised if the F61/F2010 isn't a championship contender for next year. Dumping KERS, double diffuser from the get-go, significant R&D time... can't wait for the unveiling.

As far as I know, not yet. Some of the teams want them banned for the difficulty in removing them during pitstops.

Actually, the front is a bit of both RBR and BGP; the front nose is wide and flat like Brawn's.

It says Bridgestone engineers already re-instated at Ferrari factory.

I hope the other teams are aware of this because its provides Ferrari with a strategic and knowledge advantage.

Mechanical and Electrical solutions?

It sounds to me like this may be biassed towards fuel efficiency, ie running less wing (to save fuel) and also making teh engine more effient generally (as I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Merc has a lead on this).

I dont think the extra weight of fuel can be underestimated. If they cane their tyres in the first 10 laps they will end up with a terrible result. I just hope Ferarri can get back to their regular winning ways. I am pretty sure they will next year.
