It is good news. But I have to wonder why its only for a single year?

Excellent! I presume from the story it's just a one year contract - lets hope RBR is again very competitive next year. up.gif

RB like to keep their options open? It also keeps the driver motivated. wink.gif

Red Bull traditionally like single year contracts - Vettel's current deal and Webber's original being the exceptions.

The press release from Red Bull just says 'will drive for Red Bull in 2010'. There's probably a raft of conditions in the contract about what happens after that.. without seeing the contract it is difficult to speculate.

I'm loving his battle with Vettel this year, and it looks like we will get more of the same in 2010! biggrin.gif

I'm quite happy he is staying but if i were RBR I may have left it a little longer to see if these two start banging heads if Mark keeps annoying Seb. At some point, two guys who think they are number 1 may end in tears an if RBR are keeping Vettel they may have been better off with a slightly more ... i dunno .... someone less likely to steal points from Seb without being dog slow.

The only logical choice, Mark is at the top of his game.

A single year deal will keep him hungry, and I presume he'll get more cash for a one year deal too.

Good news.

Great news for Webber!

This way he guaranteed himself winning car in 2010 as aero rules don't change. Also have in mind that Reb Bull will probably change engines supplier to Mercedes which by default gives them about 0,2s or even more.

With this year car base, Newey, best engines & two very good drivers I can see bright future ahead of Red Bull Racing.

We are IMO seeing a similar pattern to 2006 at Williams with promising rookie Rosberg starting the season strongly. Mark appears to thrive on hard work and has been noticeably good lately at quickly finding the best setup. Viewed across a whole season it may be that Mark built momentum against a much-vaunted younger teammate against predictions. Given his recovery from injury you have to say it has been a very impressive season for the Ozzie.

It may also be Mark keeping his options open and my very well be on advice from Flav, if he has 2 incredible years there will be at least one team on the grid who would want a mature driver still at the top of his game. Not thinking the big two, but maybe Renault if Alonso goes to Ferrari as speculated or say Toyota, BMW. The former rather than the later. One good thing that Mark has on his driving record is he hasn't had any real issues gelling with whatever team he goes to and is as competitive as the package allows. So he makes a good candidate for shifting again, but I do think he is very happy in the Jaguar/RedBull family.
