TBH, if I was a driver (with a lot of financial backing) wanting to get involved in F1, and I was offered a drive for either Campos or USF1, I'd take an accountant with me. I would also want to see launch dates and a full car. I wouldn't want my sponsors ripped off. Because if the sponsors get ripped off, then the chances of getting into F1 start getting slimmer.

Um...what?

How did you come up with that username, btw? smile.gif

Im not quite sure. I wanted something anonymous, so I typed something that felt good with my fingers. Anyway the point is is that a driver/management even considering putting a race career into the hands of such an unsustainable project is not ready for F1, and isn't desirable for F1. Such a driver choice would sum up Campos Meta, really.

Probably no driver on the market has the sort of money Campos needs to wrap up the team's budget.. plus, on the potential drivers' side, it might be tricky for anyone and his own sponsors to commit to Campos while the team doesn't have the budget to see through the season.

it would be a bit of a catch-22 there..

I wonder how much of a budget deficit Campos has?

Suposedly Carabantes has paid Dallara. Bernie is covering the travel expenses. I think the last I heard from Cosworth was that everyone was paid up.

"I can say with pride that we have done a good job in design and development, all safety tests have been passed and production has gone ahead.
Unfortunately, factors outside our control are slowing the process down, but I'm confident that we can find solutions so that our work is not lost."

Lobato's blog is not a bad source. He's way better than Carlos Miquel in As, that's for sure (and not very hard). I'm usually very harsh with the Spanish media, but the fact is that I use to read Lobato and that means something.

If Campos meta pay off their debts and do get off the ground, they wont go too far wrong with Geoff Willis on board.

Some better news from Campos

But still nothing concrete

- Want Souckek as second driver
- Car is ready
- They will be in Bahrain
- VW rumours were "half true"
- Teixiera out
- Still negotiating with partners

from whats been said in other articles i think the debt to Dallara has been paid by Cabarante, but they are still looking to sell or find more partners.

Campos want Soucek

So does this mean that Adrian Campos himself will now still be staying with the team??
hihynynhhf
Geoff Willis with Campos? Really? Virgin or Lotus maybe, or Dallara, but working for Campos in some sort of role? Well, anything can happen, I guess.

Indeed. What is more interesting is the fact that Geoff Willis is not working for another team, say like Renault, one that has more viability and higher expectations.

Interesting.

Although im no sure what they were trying to say about Willis in the article.... something about a notebook and what he had written???

looks like Bernie is trying to save Campos and let USF1 fail so that Stefan can get the grid spot.

Mmm, I thought so. I'm surprised that none of the new teams have approached him. Or maybe they have and he's turned them down.

First line says (after Dallara Preparations title) "Complete ONE?" Note the capitals and question mark. A few lines down it then says "fire up".

More like 'Coughlan' eek.gif followed by CAD, CWD, CWP or something like that - capitals/initials I think.

And I think its 'Fuel up' followed by 'Power up'.

Don't think much can be made of this. It looks like a list of discussion / meeting points. Hence the story of his involvement / consultation

This is interesting. Presumably, Campos should already be aware of these things. They shouldn't need to hire Geoff Willis at this point to inform them of such matters.

So, perhaps Willis is consulting on behalf of someone else? A potential buyer?
Showty
So the rumour says a deal with a new investor, who is not Teixeira, has been reached, to be announce 2moro, and also Geoff Willis might join Campos.

Sounds soooo good, let´s hope it turns out to be true.

It's possible, I guess. They can certainly purchase Campos for less than they offered Renault. Of course, the Enstone facility was much more suitable to Prodrive's aspirations than simply purchasing Campos' entry and rights to the Dallara chassis.

Honestly, this whole thing is pure supposition; all we've done is note that Prodrive had a past association with Willis, and that Willis has a possible association with Campos. smile.gif

BullHead
I know, I know..... it could be anybody though. Just cos he's worked for Dave before doesn't necessarily mean he is now. Speculation is most fun when it's wild. We do know that Geoff has been there (Jerez) and he's making notes, for somebody's benefit.

I doubt it - Richards has said that Formula 1 is "not relevant", so I doubt he's interested in it anymore.

Campos investor is set to become clear on Tuesday. Sources indicate that Jose Ramon Carabante has increased his interest and Carlos Sainz, who attended the Valencia test with his son is rumoured to be involved through a potential Volkswagen link. The German manufacturer eyes no official involvement as yet though. Andy Soucek would be confirmed second driver shortly after.

prodrive's aspirations were to have cars handed to them by mclaren and mercedes. the switch to dallara and cosworth, for the immediate future, isn't such a different proposition. perhaps they can also bring VW into it, use VWs in the Aston's and a VW engine in F1 - badged Aston - from 2013 and the new regs. Maybe with their own car too. Spend one year as Campos Meta Cosworth, the next couple as Volkswagen Prodrive Cosworth, then Aston Martin powered by VW.

Shouldn't be difficult in the meantime to upgrade Prodrive's current base to look after what the Campos one is meant to do.

Still, I wouldn't bet on it!
