Valsecchi is driving GP2 for AirAsia... Then... who's left? Only Liuzzi?

I cant imagine it being anyone else apart from Liuzzi now, don't think there are anymore drivers out there?
Captain Tightpants
Klien. Or possibly a driver who has a relationship with Kolles, like Albers. And there's still that rumour of Teixeria.

Your right possibly Klien, but I would of thought Hispania would still need a 2nd driver with a lot of sponsorship money and decent driver, unlike Albers

but who is decent and yet has the rumoured 8+ million to secure the seat? Klien is decent, but not sponsored, Liuzzi is now on the market, but may only have up to 2mil settlement for his contract at Force India, also may be reluctant to use it.

But then I suppose that if Kolles thought Narain was a driver 'on the market', then there's so many drivers we wouldn't normally consider that he thinks might be worth a shot.

How many drivers can a team use per season, three or four? or even more? if it's just three or four, HRT got to be careful which drivers they choose...

Well it seems like they can always fall back on Yamamoto if their faster drivers don't fulfil their contractual obligations (Chandhok).

I dont think this year they will use more than the 2 race drivers in races, I think they needed 4 drivers last year, not this year, Narain has already mentioned he will be driving the whole year.

Do we think we will see the new livery in the first tests??? quite excited to see what it will be!

I hope we see the new livery, but if Daniel Simon has only been contacted recently, he might not have completed his work for them yet, and they might wait until Bahrain to unveil the whole new look for the team.

I saw somewhere on this thread, that someone has already seen the livery for this year, am I right?

Do we think we can take the Campos Meta out of the thread title, this has been the HRT F1 team for sometime?

The red and white and the chequered flag motif? That's probably not going to be the livery. It was just someone who saw it on an Etihad jet and tried to pass it off as being the Hispania design.

Pantano - no money
Grosjean - has Renault support again, but has commited to GP2
Heidfeld - wants paying
di Grassi - unsure whether is paying or paid
Klien - no substantial money
Senna - again, no substantial money, Kolles doesn't want him
Villeneuve - had money to put whole team together, but seems to be putting that towards NASCAR
Liuzzi - may have settlement money from FI, but not enough
Piquet - doing NASCAR
Nakajima - doing F Nippon and Super GT - Toyota contracted
Bourdais - doesn't have the cash

If it is 8mil they need, then they are looking towards drivers who are pure pay-drivers, as the only other good drivers with that kind of money are gone (Maldonado, Perez, Petrov).
phil1993
It won't be Senna and Bourdais has said that he doesn't want to return to F1.

You forgot Chandok. Does hiring Narain necessarily mean that HRT will not hire another Indian driver for the second seat? It's not like they have any other sponsors who might object to two drivers of same nationality, so whatever money the driver brings is good for them. Perhaps Karun and his dad are lining something up in the background.
HistoryFan
Chandhok will not drive for HRT - Kolles said.

I think there will be no drive to pay 10 Millions, I think it will be two or three drivers.

well it means they have the tub ready at least, and presumably a complete design for the car. As they are building the car through subcontractors, it's hard to say how quickly they'll get the rest of the car, but I imagine they're getting parts delivered daily.

Great, so at least they are doing things right by the sounds of it, just thinking back to this time last year, there was nothing moving!!

also noticed on narain karthikeyan twitter, he mentions he is "In Germany now. It's -1 deg here, snowing & freakin' cold"... seat fitting perhaps?

It only seems like news if it's HRT, because the implication is that they have hardly any employees anyway. But this is just part of the normal to-and-fro that goes on in F1.

Seems like he did his job well enough at Hispania to be wanted back at Williams though.

GPUpdate is one of HRT partners, so its for sure.
At least their drivers will do some test.
And looks like they will use an iteration of this "F110B" for 2011.

If...

Perhaps "sponsor" was the wrong choice of word, but Senna and Chandhok had GPUpdate stickers on their helmets last year, just like Albers has in the teaser photo for his relaunched website (although I don't know if GPUpdate also has similar partnerships with other teams/drivers).
DanardiF1
Albers was absolute rubbish... even Karthikeyan would be quicker!

Id rather see them give Robert Doornbos another chance, he already did a better job then Albers with less experience and was better then DC when he drove three grandprix's for the red bull racing team.

Doornbos is in talks with Mercedes for a DTM drive, as Di Resta's full-time switch to F1 has left a space on the marque's roster.

GPUpdate is Dutch, they support (and I use the word support, not sponsor because I highly doubt that they pay anything, they just give the drivers they support more media coverage) several Dutch drivers as a result.
highdownforce
Even knowing that I wouldn't be surprised if Albers is in contention for at least a reserve seat. The Dutch driver held negotiations for the third driver role before Yamamoto and Klien have joined the team.
William Hunt
You could be right about that highdownforce, I fact I fear that he might be in talks with HRT, let's keep our fingers crossed that a more deserving driver as Albers (for example Klien or Liuzzi) will get it.

At least we are talking about drivers and not about the team not going to make it, I still believe it will be Liuzzi as the 2nd driver though.

Where is Lopez with his Argentine government money when Kolles need them?

With a secure seat as a Fiat works driver in TC2000, though his support comes now from oil company "Oil", which agreed to pay for a test in Abu Dhabi with Sauber last december, but as there was no chance to get a race drive with a competitive team like that one, López said "no, thank you".

Wonder why Jose Maria Lopez hasn't been considered, the guy is loaded isn't he?

He has enough racing in three Argentine Touring Car series at a time for 2011. About 40 racing weekends will affront in Turismo Carretera with Chevrolet, TC2000 with Fiat and TRV6 with a Mondeo-silhouette car.
Only one of his major backers for his ditched F1 project is still with him, Argentine oil company M&S Oil, that funds him well in all his touring car adventures since last year.

Well it definitely means they can start to pool all their resources on getting the rest of the car built. Since they are using subcontractors for this, it's more likely than not that they'll be sticking to their original deadlines, as certain parts will only come in from the various companies at certain times.

At least they're nearly there, and got some good running on the Pirelli's with Narain today.

I believe Danardi, don't quote me on it though, that they will get the 2011 gearbox and hydraulics, I think Hispania will need the latest models to keep on track, one question I have though is that if the HRT and Williams partnership is a mutual one, do we think Hispania will receive updated parts/packages throughout the year from Williams?

I think Williams are offering this to Hispania as more a commercial venture than as a technology partner. They saw that Hispania were a team who needed to buy 'off-the-shelf' products, and offered them a good price for reliable technology from the renowned Williams team. I think they'll only get updates if i) Williams wants to try something out without risking their own car and/or ii) Hispania pay for it.
