$8.5 mill over 5 years is a lot of coin. But $5 mill at a club he's grown up with, premierships, mates for life & loyalty has to count for something. I'll be a little pissed off if he does go but it's not looking good.

What do we think now? It's obviously very, very early days but Gold Coast were completely helpless against Carlton, a smashing of epic proportions.

Ablett says he's in for the long haul...but this will be very different from playing with a team of guns at Geelong. Lucky the AFL gave them the concessions they did, for once they did know better. biggrin.gif

well, you've all probably noticed that one hd has been gradually eroding its 100% sports mantra over summer - now here's confirmation of a new direction:

As a Geelong supporter i'm still a little disappointed that Gary left but don't blame him considering the dollars he's getting. I had a little smirk on my face watching him play against Carlton without the big bodied midfielders like Corey, Selwood, Chappy, Kelly & Enright looking out for him & setting blocks etc. He's still gonna get plenty of the footy but i reckon his possessions will be a little harder earned at Gold Coast & he'll be a bit sorer after most games. smile.gif

As for Gold Coast this year? Definate wooden spooners & probably second last next year when GWS join the competition.

What did you think of Karmichael Hunt? He looked lost against the Blues but was thrown to the wolves a little by having to man up on blokes 4-6 inches taller than him. I guess it's way too early to say whether he's gonna be good enough though.

gAFL is a game you watch and say "I could do that if I was a bit fitter" but the 360 degree thing is hard to get used to when you play league. I don't see Folau making it, he'll return to league.
krapmeister
I don't see either of them being anything other than very, very, overpaid average players at best...

EMERGENCY!

Due to an antenna malfunction, I have no TV for the race today. Anyone know of a good spot to watch the race in Melbourne?

I give no fark for AFL. Manly pulled off an epic come from behind win last night over the Sharks, Chery-Evans is looking like a good prospect. As is Buerher (spelling?). We won't get the trophy this year but will do well in next few, lot of good young kids coming through smile.gif

If you are near a computer these guys stream the race live, and if you are in Australia it's legal:

Anyone else find the 3+ month wait for the Australian release of Senna kinda painful?

No since I went to one of the pre-screenings! I think they are showing it in the Sydney film festival next.

The One HD website stream always seems to fail just when I don't want it to.

So did anyone else get shafted with the massive delays?

I was away Sunday night so set the recorder (which can only do C10, not 1 HD) and set it for an extra hour just in case....

Thought I did well to avoid all the results today, come home, sit down to watch it. Fast forwarded through the red flag, cars back on track, lap 30 under SC and.... end of recording frown.gif

Like you I can't record HD but with the public holiday today decided that last night I would watch MotoGP on the telly, Le Mans on the laptop (was watching the Speed coverage on OneHD but that stopped about 5.30pm) and then have a kip for a couple of hours before watching the F1 and then go back to bed after that finished. Needless to say I was up much longer than I thought and didn't get back to sleep so am still running on 2 hours sleep lol.

I feel for you though because if it was a workday today I would've recorded it like you and ended up with not much to watch. OneHD used to replay the races midweek but apparently it was earlier this afternoon and I can't see it on the schedule anywhere later this week, so unfortunately you may have missed it... ohwell.gif

i watched motogp then went to bed and set my alarm for 2am for pre race show, also taped it for my brother, then i wake up and it is 8am, needless to say i was pretty unhappy so i was lucky i taped onehd telecast though on my playtv the file was 31.7gb, later heard my alarm go off at 2pm so that p***** me off, but in the end it was good i taped it because i would have fallen asleep during red flag periods. for me im lucky the playtv tapes the program and not the time and when i saw 4 hours and 56 minutes i was like WTF it must have been wet, it killed me but i managed to watch the race without coming on to autosport to see the result so it still had some intensity for me and it was also topped off by a certain driver stuffing up on the final lap

How is that PlayTV for the PS3? I have been thinking about getting it so I can record HD but my sis has it and it keeps giving her trouble...

playtv has been good for us, only proble we ever had was once we had to much in our library and i had to re-start the play tv which meant we lost all previous recordings. so if you do get it dont have your library to full which our was with about 12 programs just sitting there and F1 races are usually very high gig, but i reckon its great, you can play the ps3 at the same time as you record. my favourite thing is you can record a program at any time in the upcoming week turn the playstaion off and it will turn itself on to record the program and than turn itself off after recording a program which is good for when you go out and you dont have to leave the ps3 on. i would recomend it but i also no people who have it and have trouble but i find it great.
krapmeister
Cheers for that up.gif

I might see if I can talk my sis into lending me hers and try it out. If it works alright it will be an easy fix for HD recording for me...

I'd try tomorow night, they have previously broadcast a repeat on Tuesday evenings (I often watch the repeat).

My toppy has died, or I suspect I would have recorded it, and therefore missed the resumption of racing. As it was I set the alarm wrong and missed the first part, and sat through the stoppage hoping that I would get to see some racing. Still not sure how I didn't doze off while waiting, it wasn't what you would call gripping TV ... rolleyes.gif

I used to catch it as well, but with the rebranding of the channel they now have less sports on in prime time than they used to - the tv guide on one.com.au doesn't show a replay anytime this week unfortunately...

I spent all yesterday in Eden officiating at the Bega Valley Rally, so by the time I got home last night I was absolutely knackered and in no state to sit up for the race. I set a tape for the NASCAR at Pocono (supposed to start at 5:30am) and went to bed with the intention of watching the replay of the F1 at 11:50am.

Well, that was kind of awkward because when I eventually got up not long before the replay started, my mum promptly told me that she'd caught the end of the F1...at 6:30. Huh? says me. Are you sure it was the F1 and not the NASCAR? Yes, says mum. I know who won, do you want to know? NO!

Watching the replay was hell on earth because they'd chopped it up and inserted ad breaks everywhere. They actually cut out the entire red flag period, so I was all confused because I didn't realise there'd been a red flag!

I use VHS tapes to record, so I can record any channel (we hooked up our set-top box to run through the VCR!), obviously not in HD but it doesn't matter for me.
