Wow.... awesome qualifying covergae by ONE

15 mins late coming on. Missed chunks of qualy one and 2. No press conference. Surely they could have delayed the cricket a few extra minutes?? I mean its friggin after midnight anyway when they finished the f1 coverage. Its hardly primetime. Maybe im pissed about webber, but f'kin hell.

I came home from a wedding to see the last 8 mins of Q3 which was great and then they went to a break saying they would be back to wrap things up - then they just never came back - bizarre!! But not surprising

I think by now everyone knows he's Australian and that we won't be confusing Mark with all the other Webbers on the grid.

Would make a great drinking game - 'Australia's Mark Webber'... scull!
You'd get pretty pissed I reckon...
and now they say they are going to show the highlights of practice and qualifying.
are they feeling guilty about something.
just give it to Fox Bernie!

Fox won't get it if Ten doesn't want to share it as long as the anti-siphoning law is still in place.
They only showed that for a few moments. We all know when the start of the race is going to be so if you don't want to watch the pre-race stuff then skip it.
If I have got something better to watch I wouldn't bother tuning in till 10pm.

the coverage on normal ten is 'delayed' (not replay) of the one HD coverage. You think there gonna have a whole second editing team there to re-cut their coverage? especially when its only 1 hour delayed?
Found this little article on mediaspy. I've emphasised the F1 coverage-relevant bit at the bottom. Good news indeed!

All Foxtel subscribers to get access to One
Network Ten has agreed to terms with Foxtel for the carriage of the standard-definition version of their sports channel, One on the Foxtel service for all subscribers. Since One’s March debut, Foxtel HD subscribers have been able to access the channel, but all Foxtel’s cable subscribers will be able to access the service from July 1.
Announced to a gathering of Harvey Norman franchisees last week by Ten CEO Grant Blackley, he hopes that this will help boost sales of HD-capable televisions.
We are delighted that Foxtel has taken the step in providing their customers the full suite of digital channels
We are sure that SD viewers (the standard definition feed of the same programming for those without HD-capable TVs) will be glad of the convenience of staying on a single platform as they navigate to view One
Also announced was that in a deal between the broadcaster, Harvey Norman and TV manufacturer Panasonic, One HD will be shown on every Panasonic television on the showroom of Harvey Norman stores.
Ten are pleased with the ratings results that the channel has been getting, with Formula 1 action drawing strong audiences, with peaks of nearly 240,000, while results for locally created shows developed specifically for One have impressed management.

there you go: nearly a quarter of a million aussies, presumably mostly A-B quintile, watching F1 live. that figure may drop a smidgin now that we're in the european timezone but it still proves that what most of us thought was a blatantly obviously strong business model actually works. that's probably the best news ten has received in quite a while! and it's also terrific that you won't have to shell out for HD on fox to get one: i don't have to p*** the missus off by watching the race on the digital TV in the bedroom!

i'm not sure my initial post was strong enough to warrant the tone of your response ('cheeky' is hardly a grave insult) but let me explain. ten used to pacify us by showing every minute of the race, which included those awkward minutes when the aussie boys would have to cover for the ITV ad breaks. i thought perhaps that now with the BBC coverage and no gap in commentary, ten could continue the practice - but given how much better the overall situation is now, i really don't mind ... and i totally accept your point about the extra editing work.
[pedantic mode] isn't it fair to say that ten 'replays' one's coverage? a 'delayed telecast' suggests it hasn't been shown live elsewhere IMHO [/pedant]
[pedantic mode]I think it should actually be called SDD (Same Day Delayed) coverage[pedantic mode]
Good news on the ONE ratings!

If any Aussies have broadband and are having difficulties with getting anything they want to watch, apart from the other streaming sites, may I suggest JustinTV.com you should find several channels at the time of the event and will be able to choose the best speed connection to you by just trying them out.
Some of the feeds are really decent quality too. I am in Southern California at the moment and use JustinTV when I can't get it on SpeedTV. I have a 3Mbit connection any it works a treat, I must say though the biggest difference I have noticed with the Internet connections here vs Australia is the backhaul is not a factor so 3Mbit seems fast enough for most anything.
If anyone does use JustinTV on a higher sync speed I would be interested to know their experience with it. Anywhoo just another option and its one I recommend having used most of the others.

No, for several reasons.
1) its only foxtel cable customers at this stage. Foxtel satellite customers will have to wait until a new satellite is launched at the end of the year
2) Its foxtel, not austar
3) austar have absolutely no interest in giving their customers anything decent, like One, so I'd expect hell to freeze over and pigs to fly before austar gets one.

Those turkeys finally figure out that a sport that attracted over 150,000 attendences for a single event annually in Melbourne would actually get some decent viewership if they show it live, rather than 11:30pm on Sunday night?
ok, false alarm... Infy 500 is being shown on ESPN. 3am to 6:30am.
Still surprised that none of the FTA stations arent showing it as well.
Yeah it's totally absurd that no FTA network is showing Indy this year. Particularly Ten/One. Ten persisted showing the Indy 500 all those years, with NO Aussie drivers competing. Now with a DEDICATED SPORTS CHANNEL, not to mention TWO Aussie drivers racing this year, BOTH DRIVING FOR THE BEST TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF INDY, logically you would think Ten/One would be all over this event.
Sorry about all the shouting, but to me this is just wreaks of indecision gone mad. At least we will be spared from Rusty constantly updating us on the progress of "Australia's" drivers...

How's internet coverage for IRL in general? Live timing/commentary etc? I assume there'll be a link to watch on justintv somewhere. If the other info is available I might just get up and watch it on the net. No Canadian GP this year so I can use one of my annual 3am wake up calls for Indy!

No-one seems to have mentioned it, but I just noticed that Monaco qualifying looks like it will be live on One HD. Telecast scheduled to start 8:55pm Sat evening until 11:15pm, and with qualifying on from 10-11, then looks like we've got it!!

AFL I can understand because there is a potentially big audience for it and One as a sports channel has to eventually pay for itself to be viable.
Stuff like squeezing Quali in in between IPL is freaking ridiculous.
Anyway Q is being shown at 10:30pm in Melbourne - half an hour behind live. Race is still live of course.
